It's very rare to see multi clu deals for draft picks only. May not have even happened. Nice try though

Opinions requested.
  • Assume Port has these picks: 7, 9, 10, 21, 23, 27. (My assumptions are that: North gives Port 10 (Polec), and Doggies give them 7 and Dahl compo (23ish). No need to question my assumptions for now).
  • Carlton has: 1, 24 and 25.
  • I am informed that Port want Luko.
  • What trade swaps can be done between the parties to make sure that Port lands Luko?
  • Port will want as many picks in the top 10 as possible due to the SA talent.
  • Carlton want a godfather offer.
Port trade: 7, 9 and 10 (3785 points)
Carlton trade: 1 and 24 (4508 points)

The difference between the two point totals equates to pick 27.

  • What does Carlton need to add to this trade to even it up - future 2019 picks (second round and later) would only be available.
  • What could Port then do with picks 21, 23, 24 and 27 (if anything) to trade up.

So that’s Wingard, Polec and our top ten first round pick for luko and pick 24?

That would be the most ever paid for any player in history. Judd didn’t command that much.

Hell no. Pick #5 might become a better player, but there is no guarantee of that and Heppell is our #2 midfielder, and not particularly old. Why risk a downgrade when we're pushing to be a contender?

What about Cerra for Heppell, Just an idea.

Even our list management wouldn't do that... hopefully... ;)

Jack Steven wanted to go to Geelong, (now wants to stay at Saints) but if he wanted to go to Richmond here how’s I do it.

Saints get:
Menedue, pick 16

Richmond get:
Steven

St. Kilda will get more cap room. A gun at 16, (Foley, Butters, or trade it to Sydney for Hanners. Also get an extra eight years out of Menedue.

Richmond get Steven. Don’t know why they need him.

Collingwood to give a Ton up for May
If Darcy Moore is still interested in going to Sydney. Then Moore for Sydney first. Sydney's first ontraded (currently 12) and Collingwood's first for May. This trade makes more sense when you also consider both Sydney and Collingwood would benefit from trading out their first pick so that they could use a couple of second rounders to match Blakely's bid in Sydney's case and Collingwood would then be able to use a second and third round selection to match a bid for Quaynor who is likely to be picked in the 11 -14 range if the draft previews are accurate.

I think there is a good chance that May may end up at Melbourne. If Jesse Hogan is interested in coming to Freo and Neale decides he wants to go to Brisbane then perhaps a three way trade could work. If Hogan is traded then I could see Melbourne wanting an extra key forward. Josh Corbett from Werribee VFL/North Warrnamboo could be a target as one of the Gold Coasts three mature age recruits as he shapes as the first or second mature age player selected. Corbett could be selected by Gold Coast and then be on traded Melbourne.

Perhaps a trade might be:
Brisbane. Pick 5 and 23 (after compo for Lynch only, The pick 23 will drop back more obviously by draft time) Future second to freo for Neale with Brisbane getting freo's 2019 third rounder back.
Freo: Pick 5 and Pick 23+ and future brisbane second to Melbourne for Hogan.
Melbourne trade Pick 5 and Pick 23 and Brisbane future second for May and Corbett and pick 19 (west coast pick).
Gold Coast get Pick 5 and 23 for May and Corbett basically. With pick swap of 23 and the Brisbane future second rounder for pick 19 to Melbourne if that helps get the deal done.

Works if May wants to leave with GC's blessing and if Melbourne rate Corbett who averaged 7.6 marks a game last year., but is 190cm albeit with good leap. Values Hogan as the same as Neale. Melbourne basically trade Hogan for May, Corbett and Pick 19. Freo get Hogan which they have been after for a while. Brisbane get their man. A leader who will make their midfield significantly better. Gold Coast get good compensation for May.

A lot to play out but this is my best guess if Hogan, May and Neale change clubs. Probably Gold Coast needs a bit more as May will be in very high demand if he is up for trade. Neale ends up being traded for a trade similar to Dayne Beams (in that both trades would have involved a clubs first two pick and change) who was a bit younger than Lachie at the time of the trade.

For Shiel..

2019 first round pick + Matthew Kruezar with Carlton paying 100% of Kruezars salary.

GWS biggest weakness is in the ruck, MK solves this and They don’t have to include him in their cap.

Would only do this if Neale goes for pick 4 and we keep Pick 4 to take to the draft.

If you lose Neale for 4 and 22, Port would be an ideal trading partner.

Freo -
Gain: Jesse Hogan. Lose: Lachie Neale

Melb -
Gain: 9 and 10. Lose: Jesse Hogan

Port -
Gain: 4,22 and Mayes. Lose: 9 and 10

Brisbane
Gain: Lachie Neale. Lose 4, 22 and Mayes.

Essentially what’s been thrown around in the media.

Fremantle keep their first round pick and land a gun KPF.
