Ahh what?

Nah mate Walsh is the superior player here in terms of age and upside. He is worth more than what you are offering. Pick one is gold and you are giving silver in return.
Carlton get Beams and Mcgovern for the equilavent of pick 20 each if we go by draft points. You're getting them both cheaply if you look at it that way.

Equivelant to peanuts when it comes to pick one. You people are so delusional its not even funny. To get pick one off us it has to be exhorbitant overs not anything that resemblesfair value in your fairy heads.

I'm not trying to be critical here, at all.

The only reason Carlton would chase a player like Beams is to be better next year, but Carlton don't want to be markedly better next year. They want to show enough signs to keep the wolves from the door, keep stockpiling top picks then come on like a freight train in 3 years or so.

From their perspective the only thing that went wrong this year was they didn't snag a couple more wins and honourable losses to take the spoon with a little dignity, as Brisbane did last year.

Now, there's a strong argument that paying for a player like Beams would help with the development of the talent they already have - but on the evidence we've seen there's nothing to suggest Carlton subscribe to that view. The whole plan from day dot has been to gut the list, bottom out and draft as much talent as possible.

No need to get upset mate. This is a hypothetical thread and I was discussing a hypothetical. If you don't agree then fair enough but no need to carry on like that.

Agree but I think if they can get quality experienced players reasonably cheaply then I think it would be worth it for them to take the load off some of their youngsters and provide a bit of leadership and professionalism.

What are you interested in? can you point towards an investigation that correctly outlines Fremantle's needs?
Ross Lyon in a post season interview focused on multi position mids with speed. Seems happy enough with what we have in the forward line. For mine we have two good 2nd forwards in Tabener and Cox plus a third forward in McCarthy. In reserve Apeness and Dixon (potentially). If Hogan came on the market we would go for him. McGovern is another 3rd (potentially second) forward. He will cost too much and add too little.

Assuming WCE match Gaffs contract offer. what would be a fair trade.

ESsendon: in Gaff Out Pick 10 + Colyer
Eagles In Pick 10 + Colyer Out Gaff.....would be better than compensation pick.

Gaff could still threaten to walk to North Melbourne in the draft and put $$ on his head and eagles get nothing

Why would the Eagles want Colyer?

Would doubt they'd even remotely want him.

Is that important? Essendon getting rid of Colyer is important here mate.

To be fair to Colyer he was good in your last round. The issue is his kicking is horrific at the best of times. You can't fault his enthusiasm though. If Gaff nominated Essendon, they'd want a better sweetener though, not sure who.

Penny dropped for Colyer from mid 2014 till mid 2015 he was fantastic then he got injured for the rest of the 2015 season, Then he had a 12 month suspension for something that I forget. He hasn't rediscovered his best form since his return and probably never will, He's an ok depth player and good bloke so I'm not unhappy for him to remain till his contract is up.

Colyer as depth isn't the worst player to have around, can fill in a few roles. Whilst he won't be best 22, he might be best 24-25 and you need those if you are going from 10th to say 4th next season. Depth is everything (well apart from Richmond who are kissed on the you know whats every year)

Pick 8-12.

He's been very, very, very good. Had he played onball with as many midfield minutes as he did late this season, possibly AA 40 squad.

In this draft, good luck. I'd say towards the lower end 12 at most, but I'd be saying 13-20 personally. Depends on how much a team wants him though. For instance Essendon with zero (or little) inside mid support might just say well here's pick 10.
