Prediction 2018 trade hypothetical thread

i think the idea would be it could put Adelaide in the box seat for Rankine & Hately (not a bad haul).
Assuming clubs shirk on Rankine in the top 6 with the go home factor in play.
Also, Crouch has missed an entire season and has a long history of injury. His best is worth 8 alone, if not more. But his injury history certainly doesn't help the trading price.

Rates Crouch somewhat higher than what we paid for Devon Smith too.

Certainly a good deal for us, but wouldn't say massively tilted.
Really depends on how keen Adelaide are to rebuild the list with the crop of SA guns this year.
Actually having another look it’s not massively tilted. I think I missread earlier. Still in Essendon favour though. A fit Crouch definitely worth somewhere around 8.

I just don't get what the Saints are doing. Why bring in Hanners? Even worse why bring in Hanners and let Stevens go? If you are bringing in a senior player like hanners shouldn't you be aiming for finals? Just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me
We are desperate for leadership and experience around the club. Currently, we have very few good players over the age of 25 and it shows once things start go to wrong during matches. Hanners is a strong leader and should be able to drive those standards around the club and toughen up a lot of our young kids.

Stevens had to retire due to concussion.

What about Crouch for Francis? Could work
Neither club would want to give up either.
But if Francis asked for a trade to SA, i'd be very happy with Crouch in return.

Agree, when he's fit he's a gun. If he hadn't missed the games he had missed over the years we'd be talking 8 and a sweetener to get him to bomberland.

Why stop there
Trade F2 (GC), F2(coll), F2 (ADE?), F3 (GC), F3?, F3 (port), F5 —> Leigh Matthews

must admit, im baffled too.
Strikes me as a buy where the price is high, but the risk is too.

If it was Hanneberry for a 3rd rounder, fair enough. But he's been well off his best ever since Roughead buried him into the turf in the 2015 GF

Easton Wood beating him to the ball in the 16 GF hasn’t helped things either

If Freo get pick 5 off Bris for Neale. Likelihood of Freo taking both King Twins at Pick 4/5 (5/6 after GC Lynch comp.)??

If we get Lobb the chances are about 1 in 75,000
Why? Surely you take Max ahead of his brother. In that case whether u get Lobb or not shouldnt even matter. Unless you're saying you'd take Ben with your earlier pick and then somehow prefers another spud forward u have over Max?...

Why can't you fit both in?

Going to put this here since its probably ridiculous but apparently Melbourne met with May. My attempt at a ridiculous 4 team trade

Brisbane
Out: 4, 22
In: Neale

Melbourne
Out: Hogan
In: May & 17 (WC pick)

Suns
Out: May & 17 (WC pick)
In: 4

Freo
Out: Neale
In: Hogan & 22

Brisbane: Fair deal
Melbourne: Depends how they rate Hogan, seems surplus to needs personally. The team that may be getting the most shafted
Suns: Great deal
Freo: Great deal

Obviously good deal for Freo even with Hogan's foot injury. From reading the Melbourne board, they seem pretty split on what to do with Hogan given the Weids form and have talked about sending him to the backline. Instead of sending him back there, why not get a proven quality back who'd be a good upgrade (I assume they think similar if they've met with him) and pick 17 while your at it

It's pretty simple, the ones that say trade him are morons.

Melbourne has already stated they won't trade him and nor should they, Weideman has played well but f*** me people are jumping the gun.

I also don't know why we are chasing May.

Der, because you're trading Hogan :)

Think its pretty harsh to say they're morons. It has merit, no fwdline plays three genuine KPF's and when you have surplus of something and deficiency in other areas its smart management to use your surplus to boost the weakness.

What if trading Hogan enabled you to get Gaff?

I think 22 needs to go to the Suns for this trade to happen. May + 17 for 4 is a bit out of their favour, but then adding 22 might be too much going their way

When you have 3 picks in the top 5, pick 17 has a lot less value. I was surprised to see from the draft calc it puts may at about 18 with that deal which seems bogus to me. No one would ever trade pick 4 for 17 and 18

Adelaide says hi.

I suppose if you want to use Hogan as a winger like Lynch you could, would imagine an actual winger would be better. If you could do a straight swap of Hogan for Gaff, would you do it?

Well given we were in the hunt for Gaff the question is irrelevant, we don't need to move Hogan to have room for Gaff.

Hogan and McDonald both have excellent tanks and can get up the ground, McDonald actually spends a decent chunk of time up on the wing.

With Weideman relief rucking as well, there's absolutely a setup where Hogan/McDonald/Weideman can play in the same team.

You dont think the fact the Roo's had more money help push you out?

Anyway, its going to go round in circles. Good luck and enjoy the weekend :)

AFL does that shit all the time bonce; 5-way trades that are actually 4 seperate trades.
Would Carlton trade pick 1 for McGovern and gaff. Pick 1 goes to Adelaide, they pass pick 8 to west coast for gaff. Some additional picks could be needed, say carton 2019 second to west coast.

In no situation does McGovern get Adelaide pick 1.

You would want him to back up his form next year before you ever entertained the thought. Unless of course you get a God Father offer.
