I don't have a problem with the Scully trade to Hawthorn. I don't see it as draft tampering or corruption.

GWS effectively released Scully to be a free agent, with Hawthorn taking him at his 'asking price'. His 'asking price' being his existing GWS contract. GWS ****** up their salary cap management so to prevent themselves being punished for going over, they had to effectively make Scully a free agent and accept the fact they weren't going to get value for him.

Hawthorn come to the table, they're offering to pay all of his (reportedly very high) salary, and the 'trade' is done basically free agency style. Other clubs don't want Scully at his asking price, so he goes to Hawthorn.

Hawthorn have effectively bought Scully with cap space, just like Richmond did with Lynch, or we did with Betts

**** me, anyway of getting our picks back from the Tippett sanctions?

Didn't there used to be a rule against agreeing to uncommercial deals?

I was under the impression this rule existed. Perhaps they changed the rules, without telling anyone, or everyone.

I've previously posted that Norf did very well this trade period through smart decision-making

I will now add that the Hawks have done very well also, but i don't know how to describe how they did it
They're also taking his salary with him which must put a dent in the Hawks salary cap you'd think?

Nothing to see here...AFL have signed it off
Also notice how the AFL.com website hasn't plastered this story all over the front page like they do every other one as soon as it's announced (or moments before). I wonder why, almost like this end of day deal is something they hope gets the 'nothing to see here' comments. Infuriating how these double standards are continued to be allowed.

The scully deal is absolutely ludacris.
Former pick 1, on a massive contract, in his prime and is effectively traded for nothing.
It's almost like GWS thinks this ankle injury has finished him/going to ruin his career.

There is something in this

Not sure of the accuracy, but a mate with some contacts reckons that the Hawks have had to consider if they can support Silk, O'Meara and now Scully considering the amount of medical maintenance they will require.

Looks like the chose in favour of hiring more physios.

If we convinced Scully or scrimshaw to come here, we wouldn’t get away with this shit.
Don't see the problem with the Scrimshaw deal either. Are people being blinded by Hawthorn?

GWS traded Paul Ahern to minnow club North Melbourne in 2016 for pick 69. A former pick 7 who hadn't played a game.
Harley Bennell, a pick 2, got traded to Fremantle for a second rounder.
A couple of years back Essendon got rid of Scott Gumbleton for pick 55, a former pick 2.
We got Tom Lynch, a pick 13, for pick 37
Jack Watts to Port for pick 31
Josh Schache for pick 25 and 40 to minnow club the Bulldogs
Darcy Lang was pick 16, traded to Carlton for pick 58
Port Adelaide salary dumped Lobbe on Carlton for pick 95

The other day on the radio (I think it was trade radio), a question was asked about Rankine's off-field antics to one of the S.A development coaches (I think)

It seemed like he may have a reputation that we're not interested in.
He’s a bit of a lad. Likes a durry or two. Reckon that’d get knocked out of him pretty quickly in the AFL system (if he wants to make it).

Highly doubt it will.
Hawks roll the dice on JAG and that turned out well for them.

From recent memory, the last time they got shot down with a pick was when they took that Indigenous WA kid? He had a few drug issues etc, actually Im not sure about that, but he used to get up too much shit.

GC's projected midfield next year has Miles, C Ellis, G Horlin-Smith and J Lyons.

A true collection of "meh" if there ever was one.
Geez our 2nd string midfield would beat them comfortably. Given thats one area in which we have struggled a bit, thats more of an indictment of GCS midfield.
