Great news. Watching the VFL team play at Vic Park and then hopping on the train and heading to the G is one of life's great pleasures
Agree, only negative is the senior player held over as a senior emergency.

Dam no Away Game at Frankston
and More Games at Eddieland then at Vic Park![]()
Terrible fixture ripped off a home game and just 4 games at Vic Park with one in round 3 and the others penciled in for rounds 19, 20 and 21. I use the term penciled in as those games late in the year are traditionally the ones often transferred to Olympic Park.
Makes me glad I upgraded to social club access though, at least I'll have access to some shelter/elevation at our training ground.
Without dissecting the entire comp in detail, at first glance North Melbourne only get 8 home games this year, with the bulk of them to be played at Chirnside Park Oval in Werribee (Arden Street strangely not being used or able to be used at this time). Geelong get 8 games at Kardinia Park, but also get home team rights to their season opener at Torquay, where they have played annually for the last half a dozen years or so. So, technically, they get the full 9. Casey, Sandringham and Box Hill, AFL reserves teams in all bar name, also get the full 9 on their decks.
According to the release on the VFL's website, the VFL stand-alone teams are getting 10 home games each this year, in order to give them a leg up with attendances, gate takings and memberships. Okay, but that logic falls apart when you use up one of Frankston's home games on North Melbourne instead of Collingwood (our trips to Frankston, in my experience, are always packed affairs, which would make for quite the earner). Bending the rules for the perennially struggling Frankston and Coburg is one thing, but when perpetually strong teams like Willy and the reigning premiers Port Melbourne are getting an extra home game at their difficult to play on grounds, that crosses the line from well-intentioned welfare to substantively impacting the integrity of the competition...

The Collingwood match, set for Saturday, May 5 at Avalon Airport Oval, has been moved back and will now begin at 5pm rather than the previously advertised start time of 3pm.
Hopefully be Streamed as I won't be going to that Game.
Be bit Dodgy around there at Finishing Time
Following an inspection of the ground by AFL Victoria earlier today, the decision has been made to relocate our Round 1 game against Richmond to Punt Road Oval, Richmond; and our Round 2 game against Collingwood (updated venue to be determined and communicated in due course).
We have another fixture change incoming...

Take it to Vic Park?
We can only hope, but I suspect it will lob up at the Holden Centre...
So Trains going to Preston on the Weekend?
Yes, it’s only the Hurstbridge line running buses from Clifton Hill not the South Morang line. You’ll be ok to get a train to Preston.
So going to bloody Eddieland
Double Header?
In addition, there has subsequently been a ‘reversal’ of the venue for the return game against Collingwood later in the year.
Initially set to be held on Sunday, August 12th (Round 19) at Victoria Park at 1:00pm, that game will now take place on Saturday, August 11th at North Port Oval at 2:00pm.
At Vic Park train station, no resurfacing works taking place today. In fact it looks pretty good. Why did the wait to VFL Season to Start to do work at VIC PARK instead of During the Summer?

Permits, fencing, resurfacing... there’s always a new excuse. What a Joke.
Does the Club hate playing at Vic Park or Something?
