Leckie MOTM for mine - been in everything!!
you mean butchered everything?

he was one of the main reasons we had a bazillion shots and didnt score, the prick cant place a pass to save his life.

worst on ground imo, gets into good spots but just absolutely wastes it every single ******* time, so frustrating to watch.

He helped thailand and saudi arabia more than he helped us tonight I know that much, even if he did score.

would rather us go through the qualifiers, win against Syria, and then play the 4th place central american team. Probably USA. Watch Pulisic and Dempsey tear us a new one. And realise we shouldn't be there
USA should qualify on their own
Games against Honduras, Panama and Trinidad to finish off
Honduras have USA, Costa Rica, Mexcio
Panama have Trinidad, USA, Costa Rica

Mexico and Costa Rica are the best in that group, so to not have to play them is a huge bonus for USA. Trinidad are easy beats

I'm not talking about just a win, but a win to secure our spot. Any Saudi win now will put is third.
Even a 3-4 goal win would have been alright because Saudis would have needed to win by 2-3 goals to qualify ahead as we had the tie breaker because we beat them and drew with them. Anyways, it's all up to Japan now, see you at 3.30am.

You literally said Thailand's goal "didn't matter in the context of things".
In hindsight it doesn't because we scored, but if you seriously believe a draw is the same as a 1-0 win, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm no fan of Ange but that wasn't his fault. Our play in the attacking third was atrocious. All on the players.
And that's the problem. Ange thinks we have the skill of someone like Spain where we can walk it into the goals starting from the backline. It wasn't until the end that we started with a few long range shots rather than losing the ball after yet another horrid touch in the 18 yard box.

And for fcuks sake can Ange stop with having Ryan play every ball out to a defender from a goal kick or back pass. It's backfired on them enough and almost happened again today.

They should have been defending after they went up 2-1 as there wasn't enough time to score two goals, and the third goal meant nothing.
This for truth, did they not consider that scenario before the game? It was madness, was half-expecting to see Matt Ryan come up for the final corner.

Hopefully not Panama, we would never score. They've only conceded 5 goals in 7 games.

On the flip side we all get to understand the same hopeless feeling Dees supporters felt the other fortnight. No way Japan will play hard in a game they can afford to lose, away from home.

Not the end of the world though. Surely we will beat Syria in the third place playoffs and hopefully we pull a lowly team in the North American conference and not the US last I checked a month or so ago.

All good but specifically tonight it was the players fault.

West Adelaide Bloods, Man City.
He does tell them to frig around with it aimlessly instead of playing direct and using our size strength. We are not Barcelona... maybe he will get that one day
they just averaged a shot every 2 minutes.

think there's just a few overreactions. ange has made some mistakes, rushed into things, changed things when he doesn't need to. but if the saudi's don't win tonight suddenly we're in a world cup again.

Yeah I don't think that so don't assume I do.

That game reminded me a lot of Iran 1997. Complete dominance without completing the job. Juric even played the role of Aurelio Vidmar for the night.

The body language of Ange from the last two games suggests to me he is almost broken. We won't have time to parachute a Guus in this time. He had plenty of credits in the bank after Asian Cup but they expired tonight. The insistence on playing short out of the back is simply insane. Not even the top teams do it on every single occasion, let alone a nation as technically mediocre as us.

On the positives, Mooy was great, I thought Leckie was actually Ok, and Gerbasch a huge upgrade on Brad Smith (how did Smith start against Japan again?)

Big night ahead with the other group even tighter than ours.
