2018- Year of the fend off

Congratulations you found the two times he did it

Cunners has been doing the fend off his whole career, as has Dusty.

Dusty is covered in tats and is the face of a club. Cunners actively shuns the limelight.

Dusty has certainly made the fend off part of his game and the media has latched on to that.

At the end of the day, its a weapon both players use exceptionally well, albeit slightly differently (Dusty tends to use his on the run and to burst past players, Cunners uses it in tight spaces to almost gain leverage off players).

We all realise you're the 37 year old virgins who finally got laid and now have your year telling us about how great rooting is and how everyone should try it.

Dusty is a great fend off, brilliant to watch. So is Cunners, and Powell-Pepper for that matter.

Next year when the glow has worn off you'll understand again.

When do you think they both debuted?

Drafted the same year, Cunnington injured his foot just before the season started so debuted later. He was doing it in his first year for us.

How many did Cunners do last year?

Ummm, I'm not buying for a second this notion that "broken tackles" = fend offs. There's more than one way to break a tackle.

And it isn't about pure numbers, it is about how well you use them and how effectively. Dusty plays in a way where he has more opportunity to dish them out, Cunners less so in close.

They are still both great exponents of it.

That's how champion data define it.

No comparrison to Dusty, even the Tiges Sam Lloyd has a superior fend off than Cunners.
yeah nah - cunnington is 2nd best

Dusty has best fend off because he uses it while hes moving and hes one powerful mofo

Cunnington uses it more while stationary but isnt as good at fending as Dusty.

Why? You dont think Lloyds fend offs are any good?

I can't say they spring to mind.

I do find it funny the way that after years ... decades ... of getting frustrated because people wouldn't rate start individual players simply because the team had a poor finals record, now Richmond supporters act like there's no other players in the league.

To be expected to a certain degree - kind of like rappers or football players from poor backgrounds get money they act like tools and splash it around - and part of winning a flag is you get that year who gloating, but the change really is something to behold.

Cunners can certainly go the moving fend off, but I'd agree that Dusty is probably better overall. Cunners is a better handball though etc etc.

Laid 11 times to your four. But that's ok because NMFC and their fans are good at self-fellating.

Lloyd has 2 or 3 per game, and along with Dusty and Clay Beams shares the second most in a game (6) since ch data started keping records. Lloyds are outstanding, massively strong core.

ew, your sexual unsecurity is showing

So in other words, dusty was playing before cunnington and hence didn't learn to fend off from him. Good to get that straight.

Well, they were playing juniours in the same year, so could well have learned it from him then.

Jeez, you guys are so pathetically insecure for a premiership side.

Nobody is saying Dusty is s**t at it, nobody is saying anything other than Dusty is absolute gun at it, one of the best if not the best.

Lots of members, but really, still a little club in mindset.

You're the lot who are trying to claim that dusty learnt to fend off by copying cunnington. Iwe are merely presenting the facts that disprove that idea, and when you can't dispute them you start resorting to insults. You're the one who started calling people virgins.

Jeezo, as a fanbase the Tiges are THICK.

Dusty didn't "learn it" of Cunners any more than Ben Brown learned marking off Jack Riewoldt.

The fend off his part of the game, has been forever.

Dusty is very good at it. Its come right back into vogue because footy is so tight and congested these days, and because there's so much more tackling.

Also,no need to be so defensive about the virgin thing. We all were one day.

It will happen and if it hasn't by say 25, there's professionals who can help with that.

Yeah, Dusty is such a **** for all that media attention.

Yeah, the bloke I keep seeing on all those Puma ads.

Who did a series of "events".

Him.
