2019-20 Big Bash League

I had this cricket game on the PS2 which was enjoyable to play as it was still challenging but not too complicated.

The later Playstation cricket games were more realistic but got too complicated where you needed to build up batting power to play good shots.

I only ever batted in games too, I never bowled, always used the auto bowl option to set a total as bowling was boring as hell.

Shane Warne Cricket 99 on the original playstation and Super International Cricket on the SNES the only two decent cricket games ever made IMO.

AFL is always going to have a problem due to the small market but you'd think with the Indian market someone would tip money into making a good cricket game.

MKR has been a ratings failure for the 2nd year in a row. Cricket, and in particular the Big Bash, has proved to be a poor summer lead in compared to the tennis. Seven will be regretting making the swap and it will be a huge dampener when the TV rights go up for grabs next time around.

MKR's a 10 year old program and has clearly run its race, I don't think the Cricket has anything to do with it.

Yeah needs to be basically from start of school holidays to end.

Crowds made up by a lot of kids/families.

Once school etc starts BBL is no priority

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app

Needs to finish no later than the middle week of the tennis. Finishing it in February isn’t the right idea

"the tennis" is irrelevant to the BBL.

It’s more relevant than you think. It’s the biggest event around that time. No shock crowds take a hit and a half as soon as it starts.

The competition shouldn’t be ending in February!

Final should be Australia Day. Make cricket synonymous with the day off like the ODI used to be...

Season start a week before xmas, play more games a week. Perth, for example, could play 4 games in 9 days.

Bris > Syd x2 > Melb > home for 3 games.

Seriously it's 40 overs, they could play 2 games a day. No reason for the season to drag like it does but above all else. Don't stop once finals hit! Why do finals take 2 weeks to get through 4 games, no one cares by that point. Ridiculous, momentum is lost completely

Exactly and use double and triple headers on weekends. It was better this year, can still do better with this.

You could easily do Adelaide v both Melbourne teams Monday-Tuesday then Adelaide fly over and play them both Thursday-Friday. Then Monday-Friday get the 3 east coast games done. Half your season is done inside 2 weeks without even doing 2 games in a day as they theoretically could.

MLB teams play 5 games in a week don't they? Why are BBL often limited to 3 and many weeks just the 2 games...

How many games are the other teams playing when Adelaide play these 7 games in 2 weeks?

How many double headers 'can' be done in a week vs what are actually done. I'm highlighting how much more the schedule can be condensed

Perth could have 3 home games in 3 days v Brisbane, Hobart, Sydney during week one then Melbourne x2 and Perth meet in Hobart for Hurricanes to get 3 home games. There's no need for this whole thing to go longer than 6 weeks when a game only goes for 3 hours

3 home games in 3 days is never going to work. The actual tournament length wasn't that bad this year, it's just finals taking 2 weeks that sucked some life out of it. No reason why finals can't take a week. 14 games is too much obviously but you can hardly make it much shorter in length due to logistical issues, apart from maybe the odd back to back game for teams.

Respectfully disagree. I really think it can be shortened by at least a week or 2 for the prelim matches. The matches before Xmas having 1 day a game is silly- it's school holidays! Have 2 as a minimum.

3 in 3 may be slight overkill but you could absolutely (and need to) shorten the season. It's only 40 overs a game, it isn't like players need to rest for 5 days then go again. Could cram this into 4 weeks from that perspective

Fans may get sick of 3 in 3 but crowd numbers were poor this year anyway. Couldn't go much further back and if it did that's the trend anyway. At least by shortening it, we may get better players out here instead of them going to Bangladesh...

If the games are going to be overlapping though (e.g. playing 2 at the same time etc.), then CA will probably cave in and shorten the season (which should happen). There's no point having the extra games if they're not all able to be televised.

Something needs to be done, think we can all agree on that. 10 games was perfect.

There's other big events on Australia Day, and public transport is already stretched without having to move another big crowd to and home from a big cricket event.

I'm no fan of BBL, that's no secret, I think it's rubbish, but the thing that staggers me is they want a game of cricket that can attain a result in the quickest time possible so they can cater to an audience with low attention spans. Then the competition runs forever and they wonder why interest drops off?

ODI always happened on Aus Day without issue and fact is 99% of people dont do much on the day other than a bbq, beers and are looking for something to do. BBL final is just the ticket in that instance

Plus it would be at night- ie. most of these events are well and truely over
