I have also posted a poll about moving to the Yahoo injury list rules and usage. Our current injury list procedures was becoming very hard to police. Please respond to the poll.

Here is a reminder of the league rules.

League Rules:

- Scoring is head-to-head.

- There will be a maximum of 50ish allowable moves for the season, depending on what Yahoo allow.

- We will have one injury list slot, governed by Yahoo procedures.

- You can trade in the trade period, throughout the draft period, as well as the regular season, though there will be late season deadline as always. Trades can be for players and picks. However trades have to be equal for the draft period, otherwise teams rosters will be short. For example you cannot trade LeBron James for Pick 2 and 25, however you could do LeBron James and Pick 150 for Pick 2 and 25.

- Roster Positions: PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, Util, Util, BN, BN, BN
- Stat Cats: FG%, FT%, 3PTM, PTS, REB, AST, STL BLK, TO

Keeper Rules:

- Managers can keep a maximum of 5 players per year;
- Managers can only keep the same player for a maximum of two consecutive years. After the 2nd keep, if the player is not traded before the trade deadline, they are sent to the FA pool for the following season;
- There are no further hard resets of rosters;
- A players value is the round they were originally drafted at (so all players taken in round 1 have a value of 1);
- Value does not effect trades in season ...it only comes into play once you choose to retain a player on your list for the next season;
- When a team chooses to keep a player they must of course pay a price - this price is the previous season draft round + 1 spot up (A player taken round 10 will cost you your round 9 pick);
- The only exception to this rule is if you do not have a higher pick - you are allowed to pay the same price (i.e. if I keep my round 3 pick from last season but I have traded for a round 3 pick last season that I want to keep also......I give up my round 2 choice and my round 3 choice);
- First round draft picks can obviously only cost you a first round draft pick;
- A players value is not lost when delisted ...I delist LeBron ...he carries his value forward as a round 1 selection;
- The following season - value is based on the previous seasons value not the original season;
- If a player is not drafted at all by any team in a season but is then picked up on the WW once the draft is officially complete - his value is 13; and
- If I want to keep 3 previously undrafted WW choices the following seasons it will cost me pick 13, 12 and 11.

So if a player has 2nd listed next to their name in last seasons draft thread then they are now a FA?

Bolded players in last seasons draft thread are now in their final years of their contracts?

So what we do with the 2nd keep players probably requires more discussion. We can force them to automatically become FAs, however I am also open to a trade period prior to the keeper submission deadline.

What do others think?

Definitely a trade period.

Bolded players with “2nd keep” from last year’s draft thread can no longer be kept by the team they were kept with last year.

It was my understanding that they could be traded pre-draft this year or have their rights renounced and they enter the FA draft pool.

50/50 about trading the 2nd year players.

It's nice to have lots and lots of top end talent released back into the drafting pool.

Makes the draft more fun and acts as a chance to equalise the league a bit.

Considering my current roster position I’d be more than happy for them to enter the draft, but the intention of the maximum 2 year rule was to promote more trading.

As I said, I’m more than happy for them to enter the draft though.

As I said 50/50 on it.

If the trading just sees all the upper table teams swapping each other's superstars then it could be a bit counter productive for the league as a whole.

My thoughts were always that we would have a trade period, but if the majority are against it, I am happy to not have one as well.

Let me start by saying I’m happy with whatever the decision ends up being. However my 2 cents worth is I thought the idea was to promote more in season trading. This was exactly why I started the process of trading Harden during the season as I thought he would drop back into the draft pool if I didn’t trade him. I like making people trade in season as I think it throws up another element of gameplay. How do teams in contention handle it compared to teams at the bottom etc? I think a trade period before the draft makes it a bit too easy - most people will prob just do a quick swap knowing they are going to lose their player anyway. If it was done in season it might help equalise a bit too, cos bottom teams might be happy to trade whereas top teams don’t want to hurt their immediate teams and therefore take the risk of winning now but potentially heading back to the draft the following season. Anyway, as I said I’m more than happy to go with whatever the final decision is.

I am also happy to go with either scenario.

But like my brother i thought the idea behind changing the keeper rules was to promote more in season trading. I would be much better off though if I said i thought there was going to be a pre season trade period however that is not the case. I was managing my team on the assumption that my players that i had kept for two seasons would become free agents at the end of last season. I rolled the dice because I thought i could compete for the title (finished 7th), how wrong was i though! As a result i will lose both Kawhi and Embiid (8th round draft pick).

As I said i am happy with either scenario though.

Absolutely fair and as I stated before, the whole intention was to force more player movement, however we always allow trading of players and picks pre-draft in this league anyhow.

So I guess the question becomes; do we allow pre-draft trading, but players who’s keeper rights have expired are assumed FA’s?

An issue i see with a trade period now is, say i have 4 players I wish to keep and can keep. That would leave me in a position to package Kawhi and Embiid to get the best player I can. Because I only want one player and already have 4 to keep, why wouldn't i throw in a Victor Oladipo as well to get the deal over the line if needed.

Works great for me, works great for the trade partner but I don't think it is fair on the rest of the league if I am not really getting fair compensation back the other way. I'll be happy with the compensation because obviously i made the trade but i think the benefit to my trade partner may be to significant and may compromise the league.

Hopefully this makes sense.

For this reason i think there should not be a pre season trade period.

That’s the point in my last post. We have always had a pre/mid draft trade period which should remain, however those players whose keeper rights have expired are no longer available for trade as they are FA’s in the draft.
