Everyone will blame Arnold but is it really better than a quarter final type squad ?
Yes easily. His tactics are awful. Arnold is done as Socceroos manager. FFA must pursue a quality foreign manager with a view to Qatar 2022.

Be very careful what you wish for. A 'quality' foreign manager will take 1 look at this joke of a squad and play like Van Maawijk did at the WC. Defend deep with no support for the attackers and try and steal wins like the UAE did.

Arnold's trying to build an attacking side, it took Pep and Klopp more than a year to get their sides going and they see them every day.

Yeah but they can sign players, that's why I don't think club management and international management are comparable.

No. Especially in Middle East. Need your best, UAE, Iran and Qatar have very united squads. The talent we have is not on par with previous campaigns. Quality up front is not there. Maclaren has failed to fire, and compare that to what we had before.
Felt Australia pushed their luck, especially against Uzbekistan.
It’s Iran to win tbh. Have been the better country for years now and can score, play a good style of football.

When do we play next? FFA need to sack Arnold ASAP. Just a joke on Australia day of all days.

A return for Arnold to Central Coast Mariners is probably the best thing for him at this stage.

Not saying I think Arnold is great, but I think our squad extremely lacks talent also.
We had one outfield player playing in the top 5 leagues in the world. And he was injured.
The lack of quality is apparent. Players then signing for Saudi Pro League doesn’t help that.
FFA have a lot to do, and the solution isn’t simple.

That is my point though, they had to reshape squads to get them playing how they wanted. Arnold has the worst squad we have had by a long way since the 80s and yet people still think he can get them playing brilliant football in the first handful of matches

Not til the next international break? July? Not that it matters.
The real question is when do we start our World Cup qualifying campaign. Who’s the man for that. Love to see more of the 2 up front mentality instead of the standard 4-2-1-2-1 formation for years. It’s tried, it’s not working now and won’t for a while again.

I don't think we expect Arnold to have us playing brilliant football with an ordinary squad but we should be doing better against Jordan and UAE.

I just don't think people understand this. Our talent is bloody horrible. I read an article which states that we only have 3 players playing regularly in the top 20 leagues in the world. Leckie, Ryan, Mooy

We struggled against them even with a better talent squad especially away in Middle East.
Need to learn how to play over there. They’re no pushovers. Respect the opposition. Score early. Simple.

Arnie had a shocker, particularly the ludicrous Nabbout sub at the end. Our game plan is way too predictable, the amount of times we had no one in the middle of the park with no Rogic was staggering.

Milligan has been a great servant of the National team but he is cooked, he got worse as the tournament went on. Need to pension him off and quickly so we can get Luongo, Amini and others playing.

Not all doom and gloom, put Boyle, Arzani and Mooy in and we get better. But the real concern is how the hell are we going to score regularly? Maclaren can get in the bin, Giannou passable but there’s literally nothing else.

It was pretty typical in some ways. The new formation looked really good and we dominated the first half without creating any really good chances. An error like that has probably been coming as we seem to constantly pass it back to Ryan and put him under pressure. I thought Milligan was awful - he was playing as our playmaker, taking dead-ball situations, must have given the ball away about 20 times at least.

The result is what we deserved from the tournament as we've been terrible.

Make no mistake this is a failure. There are only 2 teams that we should have lost to, Japan and Korea. #SackArnie
Poor knowledge of football. Iran are a better side and the UAE at home isn't easy for anyone. Saudis in Asia would be favourites against us aswell. We were 5th favourites for this tournament for a reason

I think this was our biggest problem, apart from a striker the most important player in modern football is that deep playmaker. Mooy plays the role for us and is class at this level, to drop down to Milligan who was our CB 6 months ago is a huge issue. We just couldn't progress the ball quick enough to give the front 3 opportunities to attack against equal numbers

Nah. We're comfortably better than all the teams mentioned, even with Mooy, Arzani and Boyle on the sidelines along with Leckie for most of the tournament. We were 5th favourites because we rushed in an already failed manager who had far superior talent when he failed in the first place! We should be making the semi finals at the minimum.

We aren't comfortably better...
We have strikers who can't score, a 34 year old CB playing as our playmaker. A CB who hasn't players club football for 2 years. Its a terrible team.
