For the Richmond v Brisbane game the MCC have opened bays Q37 to Q40 for General Public GA. They rarely do this for AFL matches. This game must have a large amount of GA tickets pre purchased.

That’s a really good sign on a decent crowd turning up!
Should be done more often, makes complete sense as we know the MCC will not be even close to capacity while the GA sections will be pretty packed.

So GA sells out and they open more GA?
Must be great living in melbourne.
GA sells out elsewhere cough up twice as much for silver and gold reserved sections

You don't have quarter of the stadium reserved for walk up if they can be ****ed MCC members, and quarter of the stadium reserved for walk up if they can be ****ed AFL members

And you don't have the AFL undercutting your clubs premium memberships by at least 50% with its own product

2 matches between Essendon and Collingwood, 92,241 and 85,405, combined total of 177,646. manicmagpie were does that rank overall in combined attendances.

Have to wait until I get home to confirm but I think it’s the record.

Pretty sure the old record is Coll/Ess from 1993 (pre ANZAC Day) which was about 175k.

Collingwood end the H & A season on 1,207,662.

This is the 6th largest total in history as well as Collingwood's 6th largest. It missed the 5th largest total by just 81. It's the 22nd time Collingwood have drawn over 1m for the season. There was an increase of over 95k from last year (8.8%).

Essendon end the H & A season on 1,060,983.

It is Essendon's 16th crowd over 1m and their 8th largest ever. There was an increase of 34k on last year (3.3%).

Collingwood the only club to draw over 1.2 million during the home and away season. Collingwood hold the the top 6 and 8 of the top 10 biggest home and and away year end attendance records

Yep. I think there may have been more Pies as it was their home game but certainly a bigger Bomber turnout than I expected👍

Yeah more Collingwood fans at the game but a good turnout for Essendon for an away game. Would of been at least 30,000-35,000 Essendon fans.....but for crowds over 80,000 the big clubs in Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond tend to bring along 50,000 for their home games so the away team needs to bring Atleast 30,000 to draw more the 80,000!

First time in 1993 the Collingwood v Essendon draw over 80,000 for their second meeting!! Well done Collingwood and Essendon fans

With Carlton on the up next year might be a very good chance that we could see 80,000 plus crowds when Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond and Carlton meet each other in 2020!!

Last time all 4 teams were in the finals together was way back in 1982

Agree. Also helps when both teams are still going reasonably well deep into the season. It’s the highest aggregate for total attendance to both meetings in a single year, and comfortably👌

Essendon would be very pleased with that. Will only finish around 50,000 behind Richmond whilst playing most games at Marvel Stadium, having low drawing clubs Brisbane and Sydney as two of its only 4 MCG home games and getting Carlton the week before they sacked Bolton.

It’s attendances at Marvel we’re excellent apart from the crowds during their mid season form slump which probably cost them a chance of chasing down somewhere closer to 1.08-9M. If their 7 home games they sold out 5 of them and their away match against the Kangaroos was also a sell out.

Given the form slump mid season, it was just about the maximum aggregate attendance achievable for 2019. Well done Bombers fans!

Collingwood’s result, outstanding. Reflecting big MCG fixtures and a strong year on field converting to big crowds. The big Melbourne clubs have all had strong years in attendances in a relative sense. Carlton being the big improver.
