Good numbers again esp for a Sat twilight match
Trying to work out how many Giants fans took up tickets during the ballot.
On the Ticketek page there are 67 pages of successful Richmond applications (17000) and 37 pages of unsuccessful applications (potentially 10000)
On the Giants page there were 27 pages of successful applications (6,800?) and no unsuccessful applications.
I understand Richmond / GWS could run a second ballot for tickets but wouldn’t it be most fair to just allocate the unused tickets to the Richmond members that missed out (and not bother with a second or potentially third ballot?)
I know in the past that the Swans ran a second ballot in 2012, 2014 and 2016 for limited standing room and they filled their allocation the second time around without going to Hawthorn and Bulldogs (?) members.
Given the relative size of the Giants that’s probably not needed

Giants members get a 2nd chance this afternoon.
I would say any after that will go to Tigers members.

Any left over tickets are going to those eligible for the Richmond Ballot (i.e 10+ year members) first.
To be honest if the Giants draw 7,000 or 8,000 members to Victoria that’s a terrific roll up for an expansion team in a hostile market.
The Lions roughly drew 8,000 to 10,000 members to the 2001-03 grand finals (and understanding that tickets were more limited for club members and allocated pro rata between the competing clubs) and they had a sizeable Fitzroy presence

That's a great crowd for a second level competition. Compares well to the WAFL GF crowd of 18,914 and to the somewhat disappointing 13,165 for Richmond v Williamstown in the VFL.
Ratings of over 1.8 million - including FTA of 114,000 in Sydney (so much for "no-one there cares about GWS) for the Saturday arvo/evening PF was also very good.
Port Adelaide v Glenelg is / was a big rivalry in South Australia wasn't it?
I'm not well schooled on SANFL history but any combination of Port Adelaide, Norwood, Sturt, Glenelg and North Adelaide seems to attract large crowds to finals (?)
The WAFL by contrast seems to have lost (or did they ever really have?) the same storied histories as the SANFL clubs
I know that historically the SANFL routinely got bigger crowds than the WAFL. Then again, Adelaide used to be bigger than Perth. Port Adelaide was, of course, the biggest and most successful club of them all.

The SANFL 10 team competition always tried to maximize attendances thus it played 22 rounds instead of 18. It always wanted 3 matchups a year between Port/Norwood/Sturt/Glenelg as they were comfortably the best supported clubs, plus clubs like port would play 13 home matches and other clubs like Woodville would only have 8. WAFL had a more spread of support with all clubs probably bar subiaco averaging near or above 10,000 for there home games.

MCG Expecting 100,000.
I know that's pretty obvious but in past Grand Finals (e.g 2016 where they predicted 99,500) it hasn't been 100K.

Funnily enough the colts GF didn't rate much less than the seniors.
