Thats the way I understand it... a pick before finalists... of course the bids can push it.. Its a bit like the ablett comp that we traded to Gold Coast

Its after the 10 teams that miss finals. So if those teams match an acad bid it pushes back if finals clubs get bids it doesnt. I reckon it drops back to 17ish.

Every reference I can find on it says "They’ve also been handed a mid-first round pick next year, which is currently pick 11 "

I take that to mean there'll be no free agency compensation picks and the like before hand, though would still think that can shift on draft night.

Interestingly I also read "The AFL said its support would be reviewed annually and the AFL Commission reserved the right to remove future picks and academy access." - perhaps the Gold C*nts decided to trade the pick before the AFL changed their mind
