I hear/read this so often. With so many people employed at the club and decent leadership/experience why is this so important? I can understand this being of high value for clubs in a lesser league. I can also see the importance of having players, as opposed to coaches or the boot stud person, setting example but surely we have that maturity at out club at this point in time. I can see the value of Dunn as depth but as a mentor I see no justification - not because he wouldn't be a good one but because we have enough and the list is for players.Dunn .. and will be wonderful around the place for our fresh meat....
We do, but we're passing. So we have a pick in the rookie draft?
Because he’s already doing coaching work with our lady players.I hear/read this so often. With so many people employed at the club and decent leadership/experience why is this so important? Forrest GumpOverall for what we had, three later picks, we made off with true value.
say we had picks 20, 24, 28 and landed those three, I think the feeling would be, very tidy nights work.
rantall and Bianco was the big bonus.
ruscoe from what I’ve heard is a contested beast. Sounds very likely type to make a go of it.
interesting comment from Kevin Sheehan, a positive man, exceptional knowledge and never biase.
he said Rantall “will set high standards at training.”
isn’t it Just fantastic to bring in talent that all points to incredible self discipline and sensibility.
and the guy can run,
and run,
and run,
then run some more....
Maybe, but his production was almost on par with Browns in his draft year. He would have been a better chance of making it than the undersized rando defender we got imo.
Then he’ll succeed and be rich.Forrest Gump
And I’m heari g from someone I trust, he’s a real contested beast. That undersized defender is the same height as Lynden Dunn and Matthew Scarlett. May even end up taller than them. If he can read the ball flight, hold his own in a push and shove and attacks the contest aggressively, he's tall enough to play KPD.
Great to read a Saintly post. Been a while. And I’m heari g from someone I trust, he’s a real contested beast.
no backward steps.
all three have a chance of making it, because they’ll leave nothing in the locker room or accidently fall into the Murray River or some such and get all wet behind the ears.
Have we committed? I'm expecting us to keep it open until the end of supplemental signing at which point we make a call on Dunn's recovery or alternatively pick a kid.Anyone else disappointed we have committed to talking Dunn as a rookie?
I feel for the bloke with his recent injures but he’s had his time. Would love to use the rookie draft to take a speculative kid. To me that’s what the rookie draft is for.
If we get desperate for a mature KPD during the year bring one in via mid season draft.

I think we have to leave a spot open in order to take a supplemental signing, but I'm a bit confused - didn't we lose two off the rookie list - Murray and Lynch? So we have a pick in the rookie draft?
Noble came on to the Rookie List in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft (effectively giving us 38/7 - Primary List/Cat. A Rookies), so we should currently have 38/5. So one rookie spot available to give us a "full" list of 44 (plus the 3 Cat. B Rookies).I think we have to leave a spot open in order to take a supplemental signing, but I'm a bit confused - didn't we lose two off the rookie list - Murray and Lynch?
Cheers. Forgot about Noble. I think we'll pass on the rookie draft. Dunn and maybe one or two others to train with us through summer. Dunn will be signed if he gets fit. If he doesn't, sign someone else and consider Dunn again in the mid season if he's going well in the VFL by then. That's how I'd play it anyway.Noble came on to the Rookie List in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft (effectively giving us 38/7 - Primary List/Cat. A Rookies), so we should currently have 38/5.
