If we waste it on Dunn then it's negligence for mine. There's absolutely no logic as to wasting a year with a 33yr old coming off back to back ACLs on the list when we have the opportunity to get 12 months of development into a kid.
Grand Final day. Moore and Roughy out injured. Dunn in. We win flag. F*#k I'm glad we rookied Dunn.

We've already been caught out in a Grand Final with nothing but medium tall defenders left after injury, it cost us a flag. I'm all in on the last gasp throw of the dice for 2020. There's a massive overhaul coming in 2021 anyway, lets hold the line and give this lot one last crack together.

These two quotes are ridiculous.
You do realise Dunn suffered ACLs that ruined his 2018 and 2019 seasons?
You cannot make a contribution if you're out for 12 months at a time.

And at 33yrs old coming off back to back ACLs----we can surely do better than Dunn.

2020 profiles out yet Pie 4 Life? Got that post draft depression!
Considering the hours I've worked the past 48 hours, I'm okay not doing anything draft related until at least the New Year!

If Dunn doesn't look to be in reasonable shape by the cut-off point in mid-March we'll probably give that spot to someone else. I'd have liked to see more young talent come into the club this off-season (and there are at least two other players still on the list who are most likely just wasting a spot) but giving Dunn a chance to have another crack at it seems reasonable given he has proven he can play at the level, and he may well be needed at some stage next year.

No, not ridiculous at all. It's a fair call. Why do you think we haven't rookied him yet? Because we are waiting to see if he can come up. If he is good to go then we can rookie him. Do you really think the club will give him another go if he is not right. We need to back our club and have faith in their decisions.

Yeah it makes absolute sense to keep a 33yo coming off back to back knee recos to meet the exact circumstances of your incredibly obscure hypothetical. Especially when you can get a replacement in the mid-season draft anyway. IDK maybe Josh Walker who’s been better than Dunn in 18-19. Basically without those two we ain’t playing in a GF anyway.

How dare you speak so rudely of Brother of Christ
Let Brodie be angry at Port for cutting Riley rather than us taking him and then inevitably delisting him I say.

Sorry, but the hypo is that we make it to the GF and then they go down.

Even more obscure and unlikely! The odds of that happening are astronomical and your clogging a list spot for it?

Look I get the “good bloke” and “experience” arguments, but this one is next level!

Bucks seems to like to keep his good characters & fanboys around as long as possible. Blair, Crocker, Greenwood, Goldy, Dunn...

Great for the locker room, but not much good if Cameron is kicking a bag on Dunn in '20, or Blair is being outmarked around the ground, or Crocker is being burned by speedy back pockets, or cap space & list spots are being sucked up...

Would like to see us be a bit smarter re list management, which I think Ned is trying to do.

Bill Shankly, a famous Liverpool manager once said "I'd rather my players lose their legs at other clubs...". Great advice.

& Dunn is already a coach in our system, so not sure the list spot is 100% required

I'm not going the good bloke thing or experience thing. I'm not even pushing to rookie him. I am saying that if he is rookied and he plays a role in a winning GF, everyone is going to be yelling from the highest hill, thank F*#k we kept him. And as I said in my other post, they are not going to take him if he is not good to go and if they do take him have a little faith in the club's decision. I mean they are not going to keep him just because he's a good bloke. Take a look at Crock.

The logic is that Dunn has a realistic chance of playing a September role, plus the playing group will love it and be more positive. It's smart i think. If we're questioning retention in terms of wasting an opportunity to develop a kid. Broomhead is the one to question.

Yeah look it’s going to be a no from me that will be the farthest thing from my mind. If we’re playing your hypothetical out I’d rather be turning to Walker. I mean given what you’re actual point is we could just as easily be saying thank **** we chopped Dunn and went with Walker or perhaps thank **** for the Irishman...

Edit: it seems at least one club saw the value in Walker with him signed as a DFA.

Realistic chance of playing in September?
Dude, he is absolutely no chance.
He is cooked.
As sad as it is- he's done.

Reid is a better chance of staying healthier and that's saying something.

That’s the sense I get, yes. I’m just not sure I see that much coming through, though Murphy, Brown and Kelly I think will be good longer term prospects. Still wouldn’t mind another young option though if the alternative is Dunn coming off two knee recos.
Yes I agree I feel he should be offered a non playing role as he seems to be a good influence around the club

Keeping him around the club in an off field capacity is fine.
If we are seriously relying on Dunn at 33 coming off back to back ACLs to step in and feature at any point in the season- i feel we have gone backwards.
