30/11Hey Saintly got my X-mas party at Yarra Valley races this Saturday........any tips would be appreciated re.
I share your sense of gratification in making big definite statements, but there's no way of being definite about a bloke who was a very good player two years ago, but hasn't played for 2 years.Realistic chance of playing in September?
Dude, he is absolutely no chance.
He is cooked.
As sad as it is- he's done.
Reid is a better chance of staying healthier and that's saying something.

Hey Scodog, you make valid points and a no from you is no problem for me. I won't be unhappy whichever way the club goes on this one.Yeah look it’s going to be a no from me that will be the farthest thing from my mind. If we’re playing your hypothetical out I’d rather be turning to Walker. I mean given what you’re actual point is we could just as easily be saying thank fu** we chopped Dunn and went with Walker or perhaps thank fu** for the Irishman...
Edit: it seems at least one club saw the value in Walker with him signed as a DFA.
There are we go again... “the players will love it”.The logic is that Dunn has a realistic chance of playing a September role, plus the playing group will love it and be more positive. It's smart i think. If we're questioning retention in terms of wasting an opportunity to develop a kid. Broomhead is the one to question.
If Dunn doesn't look to be in reasonable shape by the cut-off point in mid-March we'll probably give that spot to someone else. I'd have liked to see more young talent come into the club this off-season (and there are at least two other players still on the list who are most likely just wasting a spot) but giving Dunn a chance to have another crack at it seems reasonable given he has proven he can play at the level, and he may well be needed at some stage next year.
I hope so.There are we go again... “the players will love it”.
I’m sure the hawthorn players would’ve loved it if Hodge, Lewis and roughead were retained for an extra couple of years too, but Clarkson had the balls to make the right call and fast track the re-build.
I’d also rather have broomy, as he is at least in his prime age-wise, fit, and showing something at the end of last year.
Keane will overtake Dunn pretty quickly this year, you’d think.

Enjoy following Damien around then Gimpy
Start packing your bags.......oh he doesn't have any gigs. You can wait for a call up then.
Someone (on here) said that Nick Robertson (ex-Brisbane hard-nut) would be training with us in the off-season. I haven't seen that anywhere else, so we'll see whether or not that does happen.Be interesting to see if Dunny is the only potential supplementary list rookie training with the club over the off season in the hope of being drafted. He'd obviously be the front runner for the remaining spot but I'd be disappointed if we didn't have 1 or 2 others pushing their case.

On another point, I feel we drafted well above our potential this year. We didn't panic and sell off meaningful futures. I am pretty happy overall.

Gee our 2020 picks are all over the shop. Gave St Kilda's second to Richmond for their second. Have GWS' third instead of ours which could be anywhere...
most likely they'll just be sucked into our academy kid bid so not sure how much it matters. With our first.. we may look to trade it up to avoid it being sucked in or trade it for an established playerGee our 2020 picks are all over the shop. So is there a definitive list somewhere as to what 2020 draft picks we’ve ended up with?
From memory we did pick swaps with Tigers, Dons, Hawks and Giants but can’t recall the specifics.

He was already a rookie with them last season. He got delisted with Woodcock but they were both promised thatPort would re-draft them if they are available stillRiley Grundy rookied At Port.
Grundy and Woodcock were "re-rookied" as promised, but they were on the Primary List in 2019 (not the Rookie List). He was already a rookie with them last season. He got delisted with Woodcock but they were both promised thatPort would re-draft them if they are available still
Long term injuries often make players hesitant and not go 100% for a fair while on return. I don't think that will be an issue with Levi, probably not Dunn either.I am not keen either to rookie Dunn. It's long been thought it takes players until their second season back from an ACL to return to anywhere near their best form. It will be interesting to see how Rance goes for Richmond, for example. I am not certain he will make them a better side in 2020. Their key position players this year were outstanding without him. Yes, I know .. AA etc, but players can take a long time ....
Plus we already have Levi coming off an ACL who will miss the year most likely. If we take Dunn i think were effectively close to 2 players down before a ball is kicked in anger.
Crap you are right. Had to double check that as I remembered them being rookiesGrundy and Woodcock were "re-rookied" as promised, but they were on the Primary List in 2019 (not the Rookie List).
