The loss of Friday night games is our penalty for having such a poor season, but there is no reason why we won't get some back in 2020 if we can be as competitive next year as what we were in 2017.

In the meantime the club can leverage what they can out of a bevy of Saturday & Sunday afternoon games. This is a huge opportunity to build credits with as many Carlton families as possible.

There are concerns that we might have lost close to a generation of young supporters due to our lack of recent success. I have no doubt Liddle & Co will capitalise on the opportunity to increase the number of families & older teenagers who attend our games in 2019.

There is a tremendous opportunity to get into schools & get in the ear of many youngsters about the family friendly timeslots for so many of our games. This fixture can be turned into a positive by the club, particularly if we back it up with improved onfield performances.

Good move. Replace the Commonwealth Bank in Primary Schools.

I'm not upset by the draw. Just get on with it and beat the team infront of you. When we are more of a draw card, it will swing back. Living in a regional area interstate, I'll actually get to a couple of games! Suns at Metricon with the family and Melbourne at home with the mates on a footy trip.

Hopefully member upgrades help out a bit.

Happy not to be jinxed with a Lions game too.

Agree with your first two sentences .

So only 4 lots of 6 day breaks this year. 3 of these are both in Melbourne, the other one has one interstate leg (Sydney).

And no double 6 day breaks either.

So a better balance for a young list.

Any chance we get a fifth 6 day break (and the only back-to-back 6 day breaks) by playing Cats at GMHBA on Friday night in round 23?

grasping a bit, msr.........
Someone has to, but all joking aside, I have no doubt that Liddle already has a plan for making the best of the fixture we have been given. It is one thing which we seem to have already got better at under Liddle's leadership is our engagement with younger fans & their families. Saturday & Sunday afternoon games give the club the opportunity to continue to foster this.

Love the headline on the AFL site. Makes you proud to be a Carlton supporter.

Fixture release: Pies the prime-time kings, Blues banished

Seems accurate, after the shit we produced this year I'm surprised the AFL didn't just scheduled all our games on a Tuesday afternoon. I'm just annoyed that we only play Collingwood and Essendon once, its like the AFL are trying to kill our club and the few things we've got left. Plus Essendon is one of the few teams we can beat so I was counting on playing them 4 times next year.

Going to be tough to put some money away into the kitty next year.

Good luck Cain Liddle.
According to him everything is roses...

"Looking at our fixture for next season, I’m pleased we’ve received a balance of Saturday and Sunday afternoon matches. They’re traditional-footy timeslots which are renowned for being family friendly, so it’s a positive result for the Club and our members and supporters,”

"and as a tenant club of Marvel Stadium, our six games at Docklands will provide the Club with a strong financial return."

Compare that to Jeff Kennett:

“As I mentioned earlier, no draw is ever perfect for any team. However, we feel the 2019 fixture does not entirely respect our great club, what it has done for the AFL and our success over the last 11 years,”

“We have only been allocated one Friday night home game and no Thursday night encounters.

“That said, we must deal with what we have, and the best way to do that is to attend each game, fill the stands and hopefully take home the win.”

If Hawks stop winning their crowds will be rubbish

Let’s be honest. This draw is insulting and a huge slap in the face to the club. We’re off broadway. Let’s just win. Our crowds will be huge. We’re a sleeping giant if we win games.

Really as the AFL currently operates, the fixture is what we deserve for the performances we've put on. The problem with Essendons fixture is its based on potential - like ours was last year - and could well blow up in the leagues face.

The issue is with the whole process though that kicks teams while they are down - whether its poor times, poor tv exposure or poor venue choices - look at the Dogs, Saints and North since 1987. I see no reason why every Victorian club cant travel at least 5 times over the season - theres no reason every vic team cant go to Qld, NSW, SA, WA at least once, and one of the 10 games scheduled for Tas/NT. Theres no reason why with 8 Thursday night games, and 23 Friday and Saturday night games that every team cant get on FTA a decent number of times a season.

Generally happy with the draw.
Would have preferred to play GCS later in the year as they always seem to start well
Play 2 top 8 sides but I see Sydney dropping so would prefer to play them twice over most of the sides just out of the 8.
AFL should have given us a home game against * to balance out no Friday night games and Adelaide and Saints at the G rather than sides that will draw a crowd (like say Geelong or Hawks).

Ridiculous that we play Geelong for the first time in round 23 and play 2 away games in Geelong in consecutive season .Shouldn't be scheduled to play both Hawks in Tassie and in Geelong in the same season.

Hawks have been screwed over given they finished the Home and away season in the top 4.
