Fixture delayed until Thurs @ midday.
Some unhappy campers so changes being sought.
Ess or Rich to face North on Good Friday (not sure how many marquee games they’re required to be in).

Not sure if there's a thread on this, but the article today on the AFL website says that Liddle announced earlier in the year that we will be playing 6 home games at Docklands and 5 at the 'G for the next 5 years. Is this true? When did this happen? And what happened to the triumphant 'we're now playing 6 home games at the MCG' announcement a couple of years ago (which was poor in itself, given most supporters want, and were expecting, at least 7 at the MCG)?

The club's CEO, Cain Liddle, confirmed earlier in the year that the Blues will play six home games at Marvel Stadium and five at the MCG over the next five years.

Was around the time of the AFL buyout of ES, and a re-negotiated deal with greater returns on our games there. Maybe April?

Edit: “Liddle also says that the club are happy with their current stadium arrangement with Etihad Stadium, which sees the Blues required to play six of their home games a year at the venue.
The Carlton chief says that despite pushing for additional home games at the MCG in the past, the club are much more content with the deal after the AFL took control of the stadium last year”.

Pretty sure he said that at the members forum in the preseason.

Or in a letter to members, MLG or Liddle announced it..?
Backflip on the MCG but a profitable change on the new deal.

Edit: it was after last year’s fixture announcement from MLG
“Our stadium negotiations have resulted in the Club securing a sixth game at Etihad Stadium which will return a significant financial outcome for the Club.
Subsequently, the financial benefits will allow further investment into our football program.”

Thanks Bighouse and Bluella, somehow missed that. Disappointing...so much for being an MCG club.

We are pathetic at requesting marquee games , considering Carlton v Collingwood or Essendon were once the biggest games in the year

We have one v Richmond round 1 , allegedly we were supposed to get Good Friday v Nth Melb but have missed !!

Beyond annoyed that the pin cushions get Good Friday, to add to Anzac Day and Dream Time.

Seriously Carlton pushed for the Good Friday game for as long as North. Makes sense with the two clubs being the closest to the Hospital....

Carlton continue to get nothing. Regardless of ladder position we would draw more than *ing North.

So Hawks are playing the Blues in Launceston in Round 6 Sunday, 3.20pm timeslot.

Record crowd last time we met, so have to get in early to get tickets.

Hmm might need to buy thermals.

It’s funny, we couldn’t be more ‘in bed’ with the AFL if we tried, yet still get treated like a 3rd class unit. Well done to all!!!

The AFL has given us so much support with fixturing over the past few years with Friday night games and what not and every time they have we've stunk it up like no tomorrow! We've got to start performing on the field now it's as simple as that. The club and supporters with common sense understand you can't be granted prime time slots and put in shithouse performances. Start winning games and being competitive every week and people will want to watch and then we can get the big ticket times and games. Until then the AFL has every right to play us on Saturday and Sunday afternoons away from prying eyes where we don't affect the bottom line of the game.

Not sure the AFL could justify taking Good Friday off St Kilda and giving it to the reigning wooden spooners...

We're close to the hospital geographically, * fc are closer thematically

Clarko to have a coffee with Gil to sort it out

The AFL helped us out so much last year with the Friday night games one good match up against the pies at home, and the rest away against Swans, Dogs and Saints but we are the reason for the poor attendance.
