Basically the OP is on some good shit

Richmond 103k
West Coast 93k
Collingwood 89k
Essendon 83k
Hawthorn 81k
Adelaide 62k
Geelong 61k
Sydney 57k
Melbourne 57k
Port Adelaide 56k
Carlton 52k
Fremantle 52k
St Kilda 47k
Western Bulldogs 44k
North Melbourne 42k
Brisbane 31k
GWS 29k
Gold Coast 13k

Got Geelong, St Kilda and the Dogs with mild increases, Adelaide, Sydney, Carlton and Fremantle dropping, big 4 jumps are West Coast, Collingwood, Essendon and Melbourne.

For what it matters the Hawks have increased their tally every year since 2007.

Presuming we pick up Wingard, Scully and co. I can’t see us dropping - we increased last year from 76k to 81k on the back of trading out Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis and missing the finals.

We’ve also been top 2 for club membership in every season since 2007 (and top in 2009, 2015-16) so it’s going to be interesting to see where we sit relative to Collingwood, West Coast and Essendon.

That said membership numbers have lost all meaning since the AFL changed the definition of ticketed memberships about 5 years ago

Our membership packages increased significantly for reserved seats this year. Maybe 20%, for example an 11 game reserved seat membership is $598. A premium package for us because it assumes travel to Canberra. The lower end GA packages didn't. An 8 game Sydney "premium" GA package is $258, and the equivalent reserved seat $410. GA works at Spotless with access to the Suttor stand and a good view. Generally plenty of room but you do have to book a seat for the derby.

Not sure if this was a general thing for other clubs or what effect it will have. It feels a bit like leveraging the people who care while dangling cheap options to those who dont, but maybe it's just leveraging the certainty of having a fixed seat.

Our membership increased 25% last year with no apparent reason except the continued hard work sinking roots in our zone by the club. Clearly we've got a lot of potential for growth so hopefully that continues. 30k would be a great effort and I expect we'll get there. Pass mark is probably a bit less.

Prediction; Collingwood will overtake the record.

If Richmond went from 72k to 100k, then it will be easy enough for us to go from 75k to 100k.
Next year will be my first time buying a Collingwood membership so that's already one on the tally.

Huh. So we might overtake Hawthorn as the second-largest club this year.

Cool. Pretty good for little ol' Western Australia.

Considering you are in a two team town and the other team is what can only be described in operational terms as suicidal...it would be bloody staggering if you were not in the very top echelon for members

I'm actually pretty impressed with reading 25,000+ members for you guys ..It's a slow road but you will keep growing.. .The concern is the Qld clubs membership numbers.. .I really think two teams is one to many for that state

I'd give both the QLD clubs some space and wait and see what happens this year.

The Lions are on the up. We dont know how far or fast but it seems improbable their supporters wont have reason to cheer at the Gabba this year. That always causes an increase.

The Suns had unique issues last year with no games at Metricon for the first half of the year.

It would piss me off if Olympic Park was taken, including Spotless, for half the season. As I understand it's not the clubs fault unless you blame them for failing to lobby the QLD govt effectively.

They actually get good crowds at Metricon consistently. As for us that no doubt includes local residents that support the opposition. We actively promote memberships to these people at Spotless and Manuka with cheap 3 game packages, and even an $80 one game membership for Manuka offerred prior to the third game.

Not sure if the Suns take the same tack. I tried to check the packages on their site but no details are available. It says they will be in November. We started rollovers and selling packages at the start of this month and have 9k to date. Not sure what this means.

Every supporter of football should be hoping the growth continues strong for years to come

As a sport we’ve invested in long term growth - and over time hopefully we see results in terms of support, player development and grass roots

Freo are quite profitable and run well (now)

How is that suicidal?

They have never won anything
They have Ross Lyon as a coach
They still have Harley Bennell on there list
They have a game style that at it's best resembles competitive bog swimming
And there cross town rivals and bitterest enemy just won the flag.. .How is it not suicidal

Essendon should be the big movers for the second year running. All the signs are there for a top 4 year and a deep run into September. Can see them getting 88-89K

One thing that counts against that increase is all the Marvel Stadium home games.

Adelaide to declare 100k then drop down to 50k once the AFL take a look
LOL didn't you know signing up to a newsletter email classifies as a "member". :tearsofjoy:
