Haha he loves it. Cyril use to hunt the body like this.

Im in (not 11 tho)

Agreed. Hopefully we can trade in another early 2nd rounder to take him.

Not at pick 11 in this draft IMO.
There should be players available at pick 11 who can drive the whole team forward in central roles (midfield/KPP), not simply catalyse the forward half when the ball hits the ground. At our stage of list rejuvenation we should prioritise the former.
I'm not saying we should pick him at 11. Just that I'd understand why if we did.

I haven't seen him listed inside the top 30 in any phantom drafts. Not sure why there's so much hype all of a sudden. Could easily slip through to the second round.
Phantom drafts are done by fans or media people that don’t watch all that much footy around the country compared to AFL clubs and their large number of scouts.

Where's the other 13 picks? I have hyped myself too much for Stephens and feel like I'm going to be bitterly disappointed.

“Based on club needs”

We need KPP, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t better players still available at our pick
I’d be drafting “best available”, not needs myself

Maybe, just maybe, Hawthorn are hoping to get McAsey, but if they miss out, they'll then sign up Hartley.
Most of us posters are thinking it's the other way round...sign up Hartley and pass on McAsey for a different player altogether!

Gee I love draft time!

Since we don’t have any other picks in the 30 after matching Maginness I just stopped listening there. And I do feel there’s a good chance Stephens goes earlier - probably to Freo at 7.

Well I'm super keen for us to try and get back into the draft after Maginness if Gould and Pickett are still available, just finding a club happy to deal.

How would anyone see us trading down the draft before the Maginness bid? Brisbane have more picks than selections. Like could we trade pick 30 (629 points) for 48 and 52 (548 points), we use 42, 48 and 52 (943 points) to match a bid on Maginness. Then trade the Lions picks 54 and 63 (332 points) for their pick 34 (542 points). First trade we are in deficit 81 points and second trade Lions and in deficit 210, 129 points in our favour. Probably a little ugly and not that believable that the Lions would consider it but if the Lions have no plans to use the picks and are keen to move up in the draft, it is burning 52 and moving back six spots from 48 to 54 to move up four spots into the top 30. Damn that's harder than it looks to try and work out. Anyone else have any ideas how we can trade out before the Maginness bid and trade back in?

Can't see us passing on Kemp if he's there.
