Norwood’s Dylan Stephens and North Adelaide pair Dyson Hilder and Karl Finlay have been among the South Australians to shine at the 2019 AFL Combine in Melbourne.

Stephens, tipped to be among the first Croweaters selected in November’s AFL Draft, displayed his speed by notching a sharp time of just 2.97 seconds in the 20m Sprint at Margaret Court Arena.

Redlegs running machine Stephens was placed 10th overall in the 20m Sprint, the same ranking he achieved with a time of 8.24 seconds in the Agility Test.

The classy left-footer then went on to post a solid score of Level 21.2 in the endurance-based Yo-Yo Test.

This was where Roosters’ defenders Hilder and Finlay stood tall, with the key backs recording impressive Yo-Yo Test scores of 21.1 and 20.7 respectively.

Medium-sized SA forwards Josh Morris (Eagles), Cameron Taheny (Norwood) and Callum Park (Glenelg) also put their elite speed on show by breaking the 3 second barrier in the 20m Sprint.

Eagles forward Kysaiah Pickett and West Adelaide utility Will Day were the other South Aussies to reach the top 10 when they recorded 83cm in the Running Vertical Jump.

Just the 2km Time Trial remains, with this endurance event to be held at Collingwood FC’s home base on Friday.

Kid can play a bit too.

I assume this is the same kid:

That's him.

Took his game to another level this year especially on the inside. Covers the ground. excellent on the inside, tackling machine with good leadership. A real pure footballer.

I honestly don't get why he isn't rated in the top 15 odd players.

He would be a steal with our 2nd pick.

His Nab Stats were:
12 Games
11 Goals
25 Disposals per game
7 tackles per game
3 marks per game
3.3 inside 50's per game
2 return 50's per game

A lot to like about him.

Sam Flanders' hopes of being a top-10 pick were increased. His explosive streak came through the tests – he was among the best for the vertical jump and agility – and backed it up by reaching level 21.3 in the YoYo.

After that it's interesting. Flanders, Caleb Serong, Lachie Ash, Dylan Stephens and Hayden Young were among the likely early selections to test, with Young taking out the agility test (7.94 seconds), and Ash and Stephens also did well in pace and endurance tests.

Who will rise from here?
The draft position of ruckman Luke Jackson is fascinating. Clubs within the top-10 are considering taking the talented West Australian, while others are keen to get picks high enough to nab him. It would break with a trend, but he's ready to play and has some special skills for a ruck.
