I was going to suggest the opposite - they're missing Carlisle, Hannebery, Longer and Brown and there's question marks over Steven, Roberton, McCartin, Acres and Long.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Suns won.

Disagree Viney and Jones both played on the last weekend and likely have another run this weekend. Port and Brisbane most over rated sides coming out of JLT for me

Surely Eagles 1.48 to win is overs

Premiers, JJK likely to play round 1, performed very well in JLT, Sheppard back from GF team. Rules suit quick explosive eagle mids in Yeo and Shuey. Hutchings to tag Zorko

Also big fan of GWS 1.76 if Kelly and Hopper are gonna play. Maybe my bias against the dons but we were poor in preseason. Smashed swans and then got beaten by crows who look one of the strongest sides this year and without Kelly, Hopper, Z.Williams, Greene for a half who all return

I like the dons. Also Shep in doubt and also Williams?

Why do you like the Dons? Been plain in JLT and several key members like Merrett, Heppel and a few others have had interrupted preseasons. If you consider both teams to be pretty similar talent wise then i'll be siding with the team with HGA and better prep.

Why does anyone still put any stock into pre season matches that mean nothing? Best thing you could do is wipe the JLT series from your mind.

Last year both Carlton and Gold Coast won all their JLT matches, West Coast got pumped by Fremantle, Hawks lost to the Blues and Dogs... It's the most useless form reference you can use

Totally disagree here. I think preseason form is a direct correlation to the H&A season.

As an example, Carlton won 2 preseason games in 2018, they then went on to duplicate this in the H&A season winning 2 games as well. :drunk:

You only have to look at squiggle to see the best predictor of how good you will be this year is how good you were last year.

Only thing I look at in JLT is how kids are progressing really and what roles they can play. Other than that not really interested in reading form from it. Last year everyone wrote off the eagles and some picked for the spoon because Freo beat us by 80 points. Each to their own tho. Gws will be missing Ward who's a big out, as well as Shiel obviously. 2 gun mids which essendon are bolstered by. Gws still don't really have a ruckman and Williams in doubt still. Yes Dons mids have lacked match practice but pretty sure they will all play and be ready to go. Just my opinion but Dons for me

Gold Coast beat North round 1 and had 141%

Eagles were beaten at home with 75%

How did they go last year - did they pick Coll or WC to rise?

Just had a quick look - they seem to be high on GWS and Geel.

They had Coll and WC mid pack - they don't pick 'risers' or 'fallers' as such as it turns out in reality most times stay around the same level in ability from one season to the next.

North paying $2 to beat Freo is pretty decent. Freo decimated by injuries. North fully fit. Fyfe hasn't played any JLT and they're down Neale.

I'll be throwing down $80-100 on North I reckon.
To counter that . . .

Freo at home were competitive last year with a 6-5 record.
North will be missing Thompson, and Tarrant is still recovering from an AC joint injury so Freo's tall forwards could exploit them.

I'm still leaning North at this stage but I don't think it's clear cut.
