2019 AFLW Draft

I am hopeful you are right about pick 1.
What kind of player is Kimberley Bowey, who you think might be picked up with WC’s first pick? (From Freo board).
Bowey was East Freos second ruck did most of the season. She polled well in the WAFLW medal count for league but to be honest I didn’t think she was that great. I don’t think WC will pick her as they have a fair few ruck types already.

Is there any chance Nicola Xenos lasts to Collingwoods first pick at 67? Also how does trading work in AFLW as didn't Collingwood finish last or roundabouts but have pick 67. What did we do with our early picks?

Just got picked up by the Saints in the 20s :(
From memory most of our picks were used on Bri Davey

Blues pick twin sisters
Alistair Paton
Carlton has picked twin sisters Sarah and Gemma Wright in today’s draft.
The pair played for the Blues VFLW team this year and got their wish when their names were read out with picks 32 (Sarah) and 34 (Gemma) today.
They are the second pair of twins at the club, which already boasts Sarah and Jess Hosking.

A mistake by the Herald Sun? To me it says they went to North and Geelong

Understandable why the Bulldogs went with Newton given their needs, reckon it's a much better fit for her too. But I think Carlton--based on who they already have and what they're lacking--would've been crazy to not go with Lucy McEvoy if they had the first pick anyway. And Collingwood would've been crazy to trade pick 2 for Davey if they knew McEvoy wasn't going to nominate for Geelong imo.

Other things that caught my eye:
  • Gum and Radan got picked up but Abbey Holmes did not, to confirm the answer to a question I asked earlier in the thread
  • Brittany Perry to the Suns, might've willed that into existence. Diamond in the rough, just not sure how big
  • Tall defender Chantella Perera to West Coast, after not getting drafted last year following her BOG VFLW grand final performance

How did Gemma Lagioia go in your VFL side btw?

I thought she was also really impressive as I was impressed with all of our youth. A tad small but is pretty impactful with her disposal. Also combine results show she is very fit. I'd still say Xenos was the best of the 3 main collingwood youth players but Lagioia is also very handy.

Can anyone offer much info on the two Hawks girls picked up by west coast? I see one is a tall defender (Perera). Any info on Radan?
Both tall defenders really, based on when I last saw them play. Perera (176cm, age 33, 4xWNBL champion, and as previously mentioned BOG in the 2018 VFLW grand final) more the type you want to have loose and use as an accumulator across halfback. Radan (179cm, 31, AFLW premiership player with the Crows, has a huge neck) is a hard runner but basically just plays old school lockdown footy.

Thank you. I was hoping one would be a lock down defender because most of the backs we have recruited are more loose playing types. It seems like we’ve gone for 6 McGoverns..:p
