Sydney FC with the slightly harder group, best chance for Victory to finally win away and go deep into the tournoment with Honda and Toivonen in the squad if they can stay fit. If not they'll never do it!

Can both Sydney and Melbourne Advance through to the round of 16 and beyond?

We are both going to be slaughtered.

Love the club but of we couldn't do it at the height of our powers when Arnie was in charge and Ninko and Adrian kicking was I can't see how we do not this time.

God how I wish o/S players were outside the cap.

yep! Another deflating result in the ACL, that deflection goal just rattled us and after that Daegu just burnt us on the counter. It just isn't happening to us in the ACL, not sure what the club is doing wrong campaigan after campaigan, is it Muscats tactics? preparations? recruiting? Don't know, all I know is its another waste!

On the plus side I've picked my K-League team. DaeguFC are great to watch one of the best counter teams I've seen and Cesinha is a Gun! He murdered us tonight! Cool logo too :thumbsu:

Salary cap holding us back

that's crap why did WSW win it and Adelaide make the final?

It's all about the right structure and tactics particular defensive structure. Popovic and the Wanderers where a great defensive and counter attack team much like Daegu last night, Adelaide the some when they made the final. It's not pretty to watch but effective in the ACL against the more fancied better teams.

Was well before Asian clubs got their act together getting quality imports.
That's why.

2?

As opposed to 4?

Hell no cap and we can bring some of the better Aussies home.

OK

Do you believe the league shouldn't have a cap? even if it means some of the smaller clubs will end up becoming extinct?
I get the idea I just feel in a league like ours with no promotion or relegation most clubs wouldn't spend much over the regular cap anyway. For an ACL campaign maybe but its also risky. But your right if we want to be regularly competitive and winning the thing its the way to go, I just don't think its the right time atm to scrap the cap.

If we want to compete with Asia then we either need to axe the cap for O/S players or entirely.

Clubs need to act within their means.

CCM may as well be already.

A-League has stagnated so bad the last 2 seasons. The league needs a good injection of excitement, scrapping the cap may have meant Zlatan (isn't on huge money in LA) coming here, or Rooney. Need to put bums on seats again and marquees are the way to do it.

I know marquees are paid outside it but that still somewhat restricts clubs once contracts are signed. Open slather...it won't be equal but CCM can't finish any lower either so it will do more good than bad IMO

Victory just can't get it together in the ACL, shame because they have the talent.
