What are they on at Champion Data???

Hawkins was top 3 in the AFL for contested marks(average), marks inside 50 and goals, while coming 4th in the entire AFL for goal assists.

3rd for goals kicked and 4th for goal assists is one hell of an accomplishment for a forward.

I'd rather have him than Zorko or Neale

Please don't spoil my day with facts....
Seriously though ... how many of his "top" stats were collected on his home ground cf to away grounds?

HF: WHE - Mihocek - Stephenson
F: De Goey - Cox - Elliott
R: Grundy - Adams - Beams

INT: Treloar - Sier - Varcoe - Thomas

Wow that is beyond hard. If we have a good run with injuries the selectors have got it extremely tough, players like Mayne, Wells, Reid, Roughead, Aish, Greenwood a lot of people could argue should be in there, then you have players like Quaynor/Appleby/Brown etc if they have really good pre season and JLT series could put their hands up to.

This is the most confident i have felt in our list leading into a season for a long time, so much talent
Minor, but couldn’t squeeze AT on the field?

Important to rest your players

:D

Remember in the unlimited numbered interchange a player would run off after 1 minute.

Not sure, but i've always felt Hawkins is massively underrated by some people due to the bad reputation he got from early in his career.

At his best and injury free he is an A grade beast who not only kicks goals, but takes big contested marks and sets up a lot of teammates. Maybe not top 10 in the league but top 20-25

20-25 sounds more like it - has be been All Australian in the last 2 years?

My groups picked with progression in mind

I've taken into consideration the new rules and where IMO we can
Improve
This year will require some tweek in structure like crisp In the past
Taylor Adams
Moved to b/p where he's competivness and leadership is required
He's disposal will improve in this spot
Jordan rough head
Full back good enough in past to hold johno brown , great size perfect position
Maynard
Developing and now firmly established

Moore allows Howe
Moved to wing and can play both ends
New rule will assist
Seir
Prototype of clearance machine
Mayne
Best defensive midfielder
Murphy
Intelligent player mobile great skills
Prototype mobile forward as per lynch Adelaide

The team
Lots of quality missing out

Adams roughead Maynard
Crisp Moore Langdon

Howe seir. Mayne

Agreee nearly totally with you, maybe Reid for Dunn ,Aish for Thonas. And hopefully some of our kids step up suprise packets like Sier this year.
My joker of the pack Roughead as he can play anywhere could be very very handy

Howe is our best lockdown defender for the Patrick Dangerfield/Dustin Martin/Robbie Gray explosive types that rest up forward, has wins over Danger and Martin aswell. I think we might need him to play down back.

B: Howe, Roughead, Quaynor
HB: Crisp, Moore, Maynard
C: Phillips, Sidebottom, Pendlebury
HF: Thomas, Mihocek, Stephenson
F: De Goey, Cox, Elliot
R: Grundy, Treloar, Beams
Bench: Hoskin-Elliot, Langdon, Sier, Adams.

Solid reliable depth: Aish, Mayne, Varcoe, Greenwood, Goldsack

Probably best 22 but possibly not available for round one: Dunn, Scharenberg.

Quaynor added so Maynard can hopefully improve his attacking game, Quaynor has support around him so should be able to play a decent lock down role.

Has anyone else noticed, once a regular lock player misses games and becomes available but still isn’t selected how we all start leaving such a player out of our sides.

Eg Reid.

Was a lock till about a year ago, now much forgotten.

(I’ve left him out of our best 22)

I'm starting to sorta feel sorry for some of the guys who will miss out. I mean, Aish, Mayne, Broomhead, Greenwood, Reid/Mihocek (one of), Philips, Roughead... there are players there who would get games in almost any other team.
Don't feel sorry for them now. Wait till they're actually out. Don't forget we can get bowled over like ten pins by injury.

I think i’d only trust him up forward or maybe as a 3rd tall defender these days, wouldnt really trust him to man up anyone too dangerous.

Might still have something to give down back peeling off weaker forwards.

Reid could well be our full back while Dunn is out. He is training strongly. If he gets the nod and performs he may stay best 22. Although last time he played key defence he looked to lack a yard, but that was after a long lay off.

He was playing CHB when he last did his calf -- using a burst of speed to try to close the distance. I doubt he has it in him, but fingers crossed.

Oh so now it’s playing in the backline that injures him...
