We need to trade well.

Wont stay this way, and don't think we have any future dp swaps, but we currently have picks 17, 52 and 70 even if we end up with 12, 48 and 66, it is pretty skinny without a second rounder.

We need to look at trading out value if we want to have more picks or trade for players.

First priority are our OOC's like JB, Gres and Newnes.

Yeah I would take both. But I have heard we are going to press Cogniglio. That’s the one we really want.

Complete opposite approach to previous years. We are making the play aggressively with big dollars now. Previously we were hesitant. Drew things out. Didn’t really show the love, more said yeah we are keen come.
Common sense suggests we have no hope. Don’t believe we are wasting our time on him. I believe we are doing exactly as it seems. Giving up on the real big names because it’s a waste and targeting the next level. Makes complete sense. Heard this from a good source.

This would explain why we've been linked to Tomlinson, Martin and Jones and not Kelly or Coniglio.

I'd be disappointed if we're weren't at least having a crack at the latter though.

Kelly is certain to stay. I’m sure we will enquire but unless we have a great year which we obviously can I say we will be going big on b plus players. Top 10 players really can improve your side but they must be the right type. North have proved that.

Agree very bland less inside version of lachie neale

What about a ruck?

The best young ruck is Briggs ,doubt the Giants are that silly .

Personally would go draft , unless we can extract B King for something .
But think the Crows will go really hard for Rankine

The midfielders this years draft are good ..real good. Rowell ,Anderson , Young

Is that Matty Young's boy? Dean Anderson and Matty Young have gun F and S stock but somehow we couldn't get them to 100 games. Only the Saints can be that unlucky.

Hayden Young.

Left foot kick ..Billings type nice kick for goal .
Stkilda all over him.

Unfortunately top 6 this stage.

For me hope Stkilda can get B King , can ruck , can play back , can play forward, compliments Marshall
Mids , Mids , Mids .....although Jack Martin would be nice.

Our trading approach may be different this year as for once we give a stuff about draft points. I could see us using our first pick on a highly rated kid, gathering points to pick up Biggy, then going after a couple of mature gems late in the draft.

Matt Maguire - 99 games
And I'll put it out there, Dylan Roberton - 91 games, two sons and a daughter

2019 AFL Free Agents we should prioritise. (info from club websites)

Cam Ellis-Yolmen, 26 - Height 190 cm Weight 96 kg
Ellis-Yolmen was let go from Adelaide’s senior list at the end of the 2017 season after rupturing his ACL in the JLT Community Series, but has been redrafted as a rookie. The big-bodied clearance winner worked diligently in his rehabilitation and returned to pre-season training with his 1-4 year teammates – a fortnight earlier than required. Will be out to prove himself again and add to his 14 AFL games.

Alex Sexton, 25 - Height 186 cm Weight 83 kg

He was used in a couple of roles, predominately as a pressure goal-scoring forward, but also enjoyed stints on the wing and the occasional run-with role. His flexibility made him a big asset to Stuart Dew, but Sexton also said the consistency of playing the majority of his football in the forward line helped his game last year.

Stephen Coniglio, 25 Height 182 cm Weight 86 kg

Bounced back from two serious ankle injuries in 2017 to again stamp himself as one of the game’s best two-way midfielders last season. Ranked second at the GIANTS for clearances, contested possessions and tackles, Coniglio was a surprise omission from the All-Australian squad. His 643 possessions for the year was one shy of his career-best and came at an average of 28 a game, but he also added 24 goals while playing forward to pick up some of the scoring the GIANTS missed with Toby Greene injured. The West Australian’s leadership in big games was again massive and his midfield presence will be even more crucial in 2019.

Adam Tomlinson, 25 - Height 194 cm Weight 96 kg

Played every game for the first time in a career-best season mostly on a wing, averaging 16.6 possessions and booting 12 goals, after being an important member of the GIANTS’ defence. With Tom Scully injured and Lachie Whitfield needed in defence, Tomlinson used his elite running ability to cover plenty of territory, and because of his height and athleticism, he was a tough match-up for opposition teams. Capable of playing at either end of the ground in the key positions and pinch-hitting in the ruck, Tomlinson is a valuable weapon for the GIANTS.

Coniglio - AA Midfielder

Tomlinson, would provide some great flexibility able to play defence or on the wing.

Sexton - Goal Kicking Potency

Yolmen - Fringe Player, whom has lots of talent, can pinch hit in the ruck - similar to acres?

Didn't realise Sexton was a FA, he'd be a good pick up.

No interest in Ellis-Yolmen

we should trade for petracca and then play him at sandy indefinitely, regardless of how good he plays..
It would worth it just to hear everyone say how overrated he is after listening to the same people say we made the biggest stuff up in draft history by not taking him with pick one.

I like this approach. Have a look at Steele and Shiel. Steele cost us a future second rounder, an absolute bargain. And as much as I think Shiel is a very good player he would have cost us two first rounders and close to 1.5 mill a year. We could get two or three Jack Steele's for that. It's all about value for money.

Yolmen would be a good get if he came cheap.

No thanks for me.

Dunstan a better footballer and supporters want to give him away.

Speed required / outside running players

Langdon ( Freo )

Martin ( Gold Coast )

Caldwell ( GWS ) if he wants to come home

Still have no one to replace Jack Steven .

Maybe only have this season to do that. It’s either one or 5 years.
