I don't think people are suggesting that our recruiters should take a lesser player because they fit more of a need. It's more a case of the draft crop seeming to be fairly even after the first 10 or so players so the recruiters may have a couple of similarly rated players and be able to choose one who fits a need more.

Replying to a simplified version of my opinion when both myself and other have explained the position in more detail is dumb as......
Enough...

Players don't always develop into the position they're drafted for.

EG Geelong Falcons full forward Cameron Ling, 'high flying forward' Simon Prestigiocomo, forwards like Brian Harris or Will Minson, or backmen like Aaron Naughton.

Miles Bergman interests me - you see glimpses of real special talent here and there. Great mark, long kick and can get amongst the goals. Rangy forward that could push up on the wing at AFL level.

The phantom draft on TheRoar has us taking Trent Bianco. Not sure if a small half back is what we need right now, seemed a weird choice.
"Small halfback who is an excellent kick, a bit in the mould of Adelaide’s Rory Laird. Can also play in the midfield, where the Dogs would be happy to keep adding quality depth."

We have a small halfback who is the best kick in the competition - Caleb Daniel. And to suggest we'd want MORE depth in our midfield is just straight up stupidity, when there are quality players who are being shoehorned into other roles due to the squeeze we have (e.g. McLean up forward).

Bianco is close to the very last player we'd want to take at that spot

Any chance Stephens slides though?
I'd say unlikely, he looks top 10 to me. There is a couple of guys I would've been really keen on that will go around 7-10 (mainly Flanders and McAsey) with Weightman looking the only realistically good option at Pick 13, unless we just draft another midfielder

Only very thin. But I expect him to develop into one of the better talls this year

Considering this draft doesn’t seem to have too much star talent especially in the tall department, i can see him going earlier than expected based solely on potential.

I'd take McAsey, Jackson, Jones, Worrell, and Riccardi all ahead of De Koning as talls

I personally rate them Jackson, De koning, mcasey... Worrell, Jones, riccardi.
De koning is literally the definition of a long term prospect though and will be a very slow burn.

Any of you guru's out there able to put up some youtube vision of Weightman ?
cant find any ?

I’m bored so had a hypothetical crack.
Essendon give 33 and 70.
Dogs give 45 and 51.
Leaves us 13, 32,33,53,70,89.
Bruce pick 32
Keath pick 33.
Take 13,53,70,89 to draft.
