Bergman & Schache will be offensive wingmen. Hunter & Macrae the defensive ones.

Then you have Naughton and Bruce as KPP, with Dale or Lloyd as mediums and Cavarra or West as the small.

It can work by providing an aerial target on the wings and really really speed up our ball movement.
Suckling takes the kick out, kicks it 60m to a pack of players.

Bergman flies into the pack and marks it from behind the pack.. then sprints away. He the kicks it long a high into the forward line.

Bruce is underneath the high ball, one out with his opponent - he takes the mark.

He Looks up and sees Naughton deep in the goals square. The perfect quick darting kick is given straight into a leading Naughton.

Naughton then kicks the goal!!

Might want to keep a lazy eye on Hawthorn in relation to Miles Bergman, nice fit at the Hawks.

McAsey still favourite- Bruce and Keath give us 3-4 years - which is brilliant but injuries or form and our depth is thin. Having a young star at both ends would be brilliant.

But - presuming gets is gone then Weightman, Bergman, Robertson etc all will be great fantastic and a few others around that will be great.

Gould may slip and this could be really interesting - would we be able to pass him by even though he is not a need and would struggle to meet the team

What do you mean slip? He wasn't expected to go top 10 by anyone outside of Bigfooty.

People like Knightmare and Chris25 do not account for the fact that recruiters don't like overweight players.

There is a few teams with multiple mid range picks that will be wanting to avoid a sea of beige picks and will
probably elevate players like Phillips ahead of more proven, but blander safer selections.
Dont mind Phillips but have alot I'd rather take espescially if we get bergman

It's not so much the individual player it's when you do picks for Adelaide for instance with six picks spread
across a few tiers of quality, I get bland and more bland with the player types. The location of our picks if
left unchanged dictates to us who we pick or have access to, but the other teams may have to adjust the
blend to avoid being bland especially the ones will bigger pick exposure. I think this shuffling could create
a glut of the same type of player forcing teams with later picks to get creative and risk the biscuit.

Callum Twomey has put an article on the AFL website detailing the various turns the first round may take.

The 3 players he sees as most in play for us are Bergman, McAsey and Pickett. Says we have put a lot of work into Pickett

He sees the possible sliders from the top 8 or so as being Serong and Kemp, although probably go 8-12.

Just looking at list spots, we currently have 3 free spots but one surplus rookie.
Lachie Young might have to be a rookie upgrade for our third pick. He deserves to be on the main list anyway, I rate him.

Changing the Khamis "B" rookie status to "A" rookie status before the season when he was no chance to debut
certainly has a "Twilight Zone" or "X-Files" feel to it, 40 Main, 4 x "A" and 1 x "B" makes sense to me.

It would be a very interesting development if we took Pickett at 13. He has not featured in any top 30 phantom drafts but if we are really intent on a small forward with a high level of skill then perhaps he fits the bill. Certainly fits the bill as 'small', only 171cm and 71kg.

Don’t be surprised at all if we select Pickett

he ticks all the boxes.

Aboriginal tick
Small forward (position of need) tick
Electric pace tick
Goal kicker tick

our new recruiting officer came from Richmond and has a great track record with small forwards..

also he will be a great partner in crime with Jammara in the forward line.

STRENGTHS:

Speed/acceleration
Athleticism
Footy smarts
Defensive pressure
Goal sense
X-factor

IMPROVEMENTS:

Four quarter consistency
Size
Endurance
Endurance and consistency can be built. Though if we want Pickett, I'd prefer we traded down to two picks in the 20s, and grab him there with someone else, or even trade that other pick for a future second given our lack of list spots.
