Here is an interesting question:

how do Gould and Bergman differ??
By reports they are both good intercept marks, they are both quick quick and both have a good long kick.

Probably Bergman. I'd take him over Weightman I think, because he can also play really well on a wing, which is something else we could do with. Pickett would be a big boom or bust play. Wouldn't say no to Worrell or Gould but I think Bergman might fit our needs best.

Gould's a big defender, Bergman's a medium forward/winger.

Having a look at their profiles on AFLDraftCentral, Bergman has a great leap and is speedy, but doesn't win heaps of the ball. Gould is strong and tough, has a great footy IQ and ability to read the play, but not the best endurance. They both have a penetrating kick and take good contested marks.

Gould is quicker then you think. I think we are also underestimating his leadership credentials too. Captained under 18’s for SA.
Watch him here:

Gould is a man child who has played at a similar level for a long time.

Bergman is a much more immature prospect still growing into his body.

There is a old saying a picture tells a thousand words, it really does.

Draft Gould. I'm sure a bunch of teams would be approaching with offers at various points, but unless we get an offer we can't refuse we should just go for best available.

Other options would be Bergman as a bolter, Worrell if we're desperate for talls but that'd be a bit early too.

From that point, I like the option of thing down as a few of the players I like are likely to be still available in the 20s. Any of Williams, Bergman, Taylor, Pickett, Sharp

So Gould hasn’t shown much improvement this year? If that’s the case then I can understand peoples concern.

You've done something wrong here...

Keath, Cordy, Young, Wood, JJ, Gould, Richards, Crozier, Duryea, Suckling, Daniel.

Bubba Smith would be lovin it! Haha
The players inevitably missing out on selection wouldn't...

Gould does not have to improve he plays at a very high level, but only a clown rocks up at 106 kg to a testing
combine knowing you only get drafted once. If he is not 95 kg come draft night then odds on look on.

I’m just bringing this all up since I think we have to warm up to the idea....

There a many videos on him.

He is exactly what bevo looks for in a player

gws will try and swap there pick 6 and 2020 first for adelaides pick 4, then match green bid with later pick, but your right something is wrong ill fix it

I have done a lot of his SANFL footage, he is an excellent kick with great footy IQ, but this is the AFL not the
EJ Whitten legends game an AFL team cannot burn rotations on one player.

Think if a bid came at 9 for Henry, Freo would trade out pick 10. Don't think Henry gets a bid till after Freos 2 picks anyway. Either way I think our pick gets shuffled back to 15

I see Gould as a similar trajectory as Collins great in the underage years as he developed early. Not as much scope to improve, unless he can dramatically improve his athleticism I can't see him being able to make it as a 3rd tall defender.
Also seems that he doesn't have a great attitude towards training which is concerning.
I think taking the punt on Bergman may be the better option as I feel like long term he may have the higher ceiling

I think you only have to go back as far as last year and the non drafting of Sydney Stack, there were no queries
on his football ability at all, more queries on his discipline and professionalism. When I think back to my junior
football days the number of who I considered really good players who did not make VFL level was staggering
and for a variety of reasons the three P's took a fair few scalps.

Can Bergman win enough of his own ball? Does he work hard when the other side has the ball? How is his defensive work and reading of the play?

It sounds like he has most of the other attributes we need.

Brad Lynch has some sweet skills but doesn’t get the pill often enough. I know Bergman’s not quite the same as Lynch but it’s a good example of why players need to be able to win their own ball as well as have good disposal, evasive skills and pace.
