Angus Hanrahan one who appeals to me if we don't end up with a Bergman or Sharp at 13. Profile sounds like exactly what we need, fast, dangerous user and able to find the ball. Rated pick 40-80 by AFL.com.au

They’ll probably close the loophole after GWS gets to use it.Not sure - Adelaide have the pick now but if it's from GWS' second and third round picks it's another loophole the AFL have left wide open for clubs to exploit.
We'll definitely need to know as we may well end up with a deficit ourselves after the 2020 draft with JUH, Raak, and McPherson.
I guess if your bringing in 2 top 5 rated kids you can afford to sit out the early rounds of the next 2 drafts.
Trade out some of their depthIsn’t Green’s younger brother in next year’s draft. He’s highly rated too IIRC. How will they cover a bid for him?

You could say that about GWS as well, they are also loaded with inside mids. They are going to need a long term ruck(for Mumford) and mid-size fwd/defenders that have left the club.Would he? Inside mids they have. He seems like the opposite of what they need.
Makes sense. They’ve been offloading good players every year, usually including top 10 draft picks.Trade out some of their depth
A GWS fan I know told me it only affects the picks they possess. They are heavily compromised next year.I asked this question a few days ago but don't think I really got an answer - In this scenario will the deficit points come off the GWS first round pick that went to Adelaide? Or off GWS' first available pick in the draft?
Because as I understand it, the rule states that the deficit points are taken from the corresponding round in the following draft that the bid was matched in.
Hard to know what the exact details of the deal are, but sounds like the future "first pick" Adelaide get could be well into the second round.GWS now have pick 4, 40, 59 and 60
40 + 59 + 60 = 733 points, roughly pick 26.
If Green gets bid on by the Swans at pick 5 s expected, that's 1,878 points - 20% discount = 1,502 points = a 769 deficit to carry into the 2020 draft. That's more than pick 25 by itself.
That's huge. For example, that would push pick 10 back to pick 30.
Yeah because you really win the draft as soon as you've picked two players...If GWS can snag Jackson at 4 & Greene somewhere after that, they win the draft by a fair way. Jackson as a ruck suits them waaaaay too well.
That'd be the consensus/highest odds list of the first 14 selected I reckon (maybe diff order).1. Rowell (GC)
2. Anderson (GC)
3. Young (Mel)
4. Jackson (GWS)
5. Green (GWS)
6. Flanders (Syd)
7. Ash (Ade)
8. Robertson (Fre)
9. Weightman (Mel)
10. Serong (Car)
11. Stephens (Fre)
12. Henry (Fre)
13. McAsey (Haw)
14. Kemp (Port)

Still need clarification on whether Henry gets bid on before Fremantle's second pick. That would spice things up.

Power has done very well so far. I’m a great believer in the draft and loving the club being so committed to keeping first round picks and bringing in top talent. The JUH situation next year will be fascinating to see how we manage it.I was musing on this stuff more generally in another post. It seems to me that the complexity of the rules and the range of options they provide suck some into trading away the rest of the draft and the future for one player.
I have been really impressed the way we have rode the wave thus far and it looks like there will be a player available at 13 who might be pretty much as good as any of the players in the top ten bar maybe one or two.

I can see the hawks going for McAsey as he would be the best available but do you think Port would go with Kemp??1. Rowell (GC)

Don't be surprised if the Hawks go Bergman.I can see the hawks going for McAsey as he would be the best available but do you think Port would go with Kemp??
The fact that he will be not ready to contribute at the start of the season and especially now that Port has traded out its 2020 1st for pick 16, they probably can't wait on Kemp short term.
Plus i would be over the moon for Kemp to drop to us.
I couldn't even wrap my head around the thought of having either Kemp or McAsey at pick 15, where do I sign!!!!Don't be surprised if the Hawks go Bergman.
They'll take Delahunty with their third pick and go into next year with minimum senior spots againFurther to your excellent post, the draft requires 3 players are selected. That means GWS have to take a 3rd player with pick boondocks as well as effectively losing their first round pick on 2020. Sooner or later, clubs employing these tactics will pay in the form of not having picks but needing to refresh their list.

Tend to agree if the top 13 go as above, I can see Port taking Gould over Kemp.I can see the hawks going for McAsey as he would be the best available but do you think Port would go with Kemp??

From all reports gould won't be going in the first round, if they wanted him they could get him with pick 18Tend to agree if the top 13 go as above, I can see Port taking Gould over Kemp.
They have shown a predisposition for SA talent recently and reckon they'll rate Gould's leadership qualities really highly
Their Captain, Wines, reportedly flagged leaving the club over the trade period and they traded out Howard, who Captained some games this year, so reckon they'd place a fair premium on a local with leadership credentials.
