Yep I'd love to get Keath, and take a kid in the draft as well. The tall quick kid who was close to a mid-season pick screams Bulldogs late pick type too.You are possibly right. That's why I was hoping we would use next years first, this years second, package the thirds, fringe players for trades. Say we got Keath, he is 28 before the first bounce? At least with McAsey we could get an extra 8 years out of. Hence was hoping we could some how land him, along with a couple of trade in's. We need ready made players now, but we must make sure we do not ignore the team long term either. That's what usually bites teams on the ass once their 4-5 year window passes, and they drop hard because they had not enough long term quality to take over the short term gap fills/role players.
Right now Young is the only defensive tall we have that is young (not counting Naughton)
We also lack a Morris type shut down/man on man Medium
I suspect we're after 2-3 mature players though and given some of the names we've been linked to (Martin, Florent) our first pick is on the table. There's always a danger of falling in love with a kid pre-draft and changing your entire trading/draft plans to accommodate one kid e.g. so many people wanted us to trade the farm to swap pick 4 for pick 1 to get Tom Boyd. Pick 4 was the Bont who goes ok.
We almost did the same for Jack Martin - trading out picks 5 & 6 for the mini-draft selection, which would have been Macrae and Stringer.
I say this year we concentrate on trade period first to plug holes in our side that looks like a really solid framework is there, then nail the draft picks that are left over.
