Jackson was Fremantle's 2nd pick (10) in my effort, but I had three bids and only the Green one was realistic the
other two were fantasy at best just to use up a team's picks.

I don’t think he gets past Fremantle either, but if GWS can extract the Dees’ or Crows’ pick he won’t make it past the top 4.

You’ve clearly read ahead of me. I still haven’t gotten to the chapter where drafting him sends world’s tallest quarterback Tim English into a rage and they both fly home to WA. I hope it has Goosebumps style alternative endings, because that one makes me sad.

So you think English and Jackson can co-exist in the same team. Whilst having Keath, Cordy, Naughton, Schache and Bruce in the team and possibly Ugle-Hagan as well? Land of the Giants here we come.

If Luke Jackson is still available at our selection and Mcasey,Weightman etc are already gone then i can see power picking him up.
Everyone knows you go best talent available with your first round selection, unless your carlton and trade pick 7 for 19 (Blaine Boekhorst) Kristian Jaksch and Mark Whiley

I reckon Jackson is a solid chance to end up at Fremantle, despite some thinking their talls are okay. They have no one at all behind Darcy, of quality anyway. Plus talls that are good at ground level for their size are a big plus. Will give them extra ruck cover, and a tall that can rotate around the ground.

If no one bids on Henry inside the top 10, I reckon Fremantle are going to win this trade period big time. Could land with 3 top 15-20 talents

Ahern is still on an AFL list and has time on his side.
Im confident Ahern will make it as a senior footballer albeit at his second club.
The others you mentioned are pretty interesting, only 2 of those 4 are still AFL listed players if im not mistaken and i only rate marchbank.
Personally i think Carlton picked the wrong year to load up on young talent.
hindsight is a wonderful thing i guess.

Pick 13: After adding key talls Alex Keath and Josh Bruce during the exchange period, the Dogs could look to the draft to address their need for a small forward. Cody Weightman looms as a consideration. The lively Vic Country goalkicker is good in the air and likes to fly for his marks, but is also clean and crafty at ground level and he has elite foot and finishing skills. Had a strong season at all levels.

If you’re going to list all of our talls, you forgot Young, Trengove and Sweet.

Three years ago when we drafted English, plus Young and NMM, and traded in Cloke, we already had Boyd, Roughead, Campbell, Cordy, Morris, Adams, Redpath, Roberts, Collins...

Yeah, have to disagree with The Roar having Freo take Stephens at that pick. I get that they need to replace Hill/Langdon, but you take best available at this point, and Robertson has a good claim to go top 7 or 8 thanks to his outstanding Championships form. The last 3 years of Larke medal winners have been Oscar Allen, Sam Walsh and now Deven Robertson. The medal has been one of the best indicators of future stars for the last decade

My prediction is they’ll be looking to take Stephens and Robertson however it’s hard to choose who to take at which pick.

Stephens probably makes more sense at 7. Melbourne won’t be looking for any more inside mids and Carlton surely don’t want another one to have to develop meaning Robertson probably slides through to their pick 10 (he’s also less likely to be considered best available at 8/9). Stephens a bit less likely to slide through as Melbourne are definitely after outside class (however they may be more interested in Weightman).

If Kemp is still there you take him every day of the week imo

I have a sneaking suspicion that we will select Will Gould.

We love our half back flankers.

In this case he is a physical, 60 meter thumping kick. Reads the play really well from all reports.

I know you all think we have too many, but you can never have enough in the modern game. We can continue to ensure it’s a key strength over the competition.

I see JJ spending more time further up the ground.
Then you have Suckling and Duryea who will only have a couple of years left in them. Basically Gould is a long term replacement for suckling (more physical version)

The combination of Richards, Daniel, Crozier and Gould works really well moving forward. Working from left to right you have the dasher, the distributor, the interceptor and the general.

Would be Brodie Kemp if he was fit. As is, I think Hayden Young will have a good one.

Young and NMM were bargain basement. And we knew we needed a proper ruckman which is why we went with English. Both Boyd and Roughead were makeshift. Cloke was basically a free hit because we lacked marking power.

To be honest though you’ve kind of raised a good point. The following year has reminded me of our KPD depth when we selected Naughton and it was a godsend. So I certainly don’t know everything, the only difference in these scenarios is you can generally fit multiple KPD’s in the same team. Very hard with ruckmen but as I said previously, maybe you don’t view him as a pure ruck, I do.

The reason I didn’t mention the others is I doubt any of them are best 22 next year and likely beyond that with the possible exception of Young.

Given Gould is easily AFL size already I wouldn’t be surprised if it was him. All depends on the club these kids end up at and the playing opportunities they’re given.

For me it was serong or weightman. I think both will start as small forwards where it's a quicker transition

Norf are the only club that can't seem to land a fish of any kind let alone a big one.
Lets wait till the race is over before trying to figure out who the winner is.
Ahern is a young talented mid which is exactly what they are lacking. I think hes job security is safe for at least the next 3-4 years, by then cunnington and higgins will be gone. They need Ahern imo.

Yeah you make a good point.
In comparison to other deals in different draft years these players wouldn't stand up at all.
