I definitely think he's a great player and would be best available at many picks. I'd just question if he could get a game in our side and whether we'd be better to get someone who could fill a need this year. It's like GWS taking Caldwell and Hately in last year's draft, very good players, just didn't seem like the kind the side needed most.

yes I would be happy. I see him as a smart pick up, lots of potential. Long kick, quick.. he ticks a lot of boxes

I hope we don't go with an inside mid. It would be frustrating to go back to last year when we constantly won the clearances but couldn't find a way to score, or early this year when Lipinski was stuck in the VFL because there was no room for another midfielder.

He's certainly a very interesting one. Checked three rankings: Twomey has him at 17, Fox Sports 20, Draft Central 10-25. Seems to have some versatility: a winger with a booming kick or a forward who is athletic and can take a strong grab. Listed at 189cm and 83kg by Twomey, he's already a powerful lad.

I'd consider him a reasonable choice if the club took him and we need to take into account a very good point made in this thread by someone(s) that with two likely matches before our pick, we will be using it as pick 15 by the time our turn comes around. So would hardly be a reach on the three rankings I cited above. The negative appears to be that he is not a particularly prolific ball winner. But, hey, if he was he would be going before our pick from what I can gather about his game.

You can't have enough of this type of player. Blokes who can find and win their own football and average 30 possessions a game with excellent disposal skills. You can play 'em in the middle, on a wing, as a rover, as a ruck rover, as a half forward flanker, swap 'em off the bench with your other guns. If he gets to our pick, we should take him.

Strongly disagree. We have too much of this player, to the point where there's an argument guys as good as Liberatore and Wallis aren't in our best 22.

We selected this exact type of player with our first rounder last year in Smith. Midfield is our strongest area by far, and we arguable have the best in the AFL. It's time to shore up other areas of the ground.

Sitting up going back over notes, super into Cahill. If we can get a quality player in at pick 13 (Kemp, mcasey, ash or another who slides) plus Cahill then I will be all in for 2020

And with our handball happy style he could be that critical link in the chain to break the lines and bring Bruce and Naughts into the game.
Fair chance his numbers go up playing with us. Do like the idea of a Winger with a booming kick could well be invaluable, would also make it harder for the opposition to just sit on JJ

Worrel. Solid player but at 13 there should be better players that fit a need available.

Depends what number the picks end up, the more thinking I do the more it makes sense to move back picks
by trading 13 & 53 for two mid range picks as pick 53 was difficult to forecast. The two players I selected
quickly moved into the thirties in most of the mocks. I saw a scenario yesterday where Melbourne took
Luke Jackson at pick 3 ahead of Hayden Young, Melbourne scare me when they have low picks.

If still around at 53 - we could do worse than Mitch O'Neil. Dual AA whose season only tailed off due to PCL injury in back half.

Who would people be unhappy that we draft?

Inside mid or half back flanker type unless they’re unbelievably quick. I’d be disappointed if we drafted someone who has a ceiling as a B to B + player. I’d rather someone who could be a D or an A+. Take a risk. When I say B to B+ type player drafting I’m talking about a guy like Powell-Pepper. Ready to go, instant impact but never had much room to improve.

All have some (tenuous) link to the club. If we can’t get all of these 4, we should pass at every pick, even 13. Show the football world we mean business.

Won't happen. Being "bigger" isn't the issue, being fatter is. Recruiters do not like players who prioritize hotdogs ahead of their football, and 106kg at 191cm at the combine testing is absolutely unacceptable.

He's put in the discipline and lost at least 6kg and a big percentage off his skinfolds since the combine.

Like I said earlier. We need to plan for the next phase if half backs.
Bevo LOVES suckling and he is integral to our game plan. We have to find a long term replacement, and I think Gould fits the bill for this.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think he'll end up with us, he's said that the clubs he's had the most interviews with are Adelaide and Geelong. If he does, I'll be happy to see how he grows and develops in our colours.
