After wanting Aish over Bont and Coffield over Naughton, I no longer really have an opionion on who will be best.

But one thing I know is it’s an important pick for Austin.

Last years first picks in Smith and West picked themselves. We don’t have much idea on how his other early picks in Cavarra and Vandermeer will end up.

Next year will also pick itself in Jamarra and McPherson.

Realistically we could be a few years in without knowing if Austin is a good judge or not!
This is exactly me. Both those picks, Bont/Aish and Naughton/Coffield. Kind of took the fun out of it when I realised I should just back in the recruiters.

With the exception of Howard, we have nailed first round draft picks for the last decade. Genuine guns. I am not sure why we would expect this year to be any different, so will wait and see whoever it is we pick, but history shows he is likely to be a gun
Not sure that Nathan Hrovat qualifies as a "genuine gun". An average player would be a fairer description.

We actually didn't have a first rounder in a couple of the last ten drafts.
If the last 10 we had a first rounder are considered, then Ayce Cordy and Jarrad Grant are in the mix.

Given he was pick 21 hardly qualifies as a first round pick either

Sorry, that pick was originally Hawthorn's first pick of the 2012 draft (which they traded to us in the Brian Lake deal). The next pick (22) was Sydney's (as they were premiers in 2012) and closed out the true first round picks. Think there was an end-of-first-round compo pick that year too, which I accept could be debated as to whether it would be part of the first round.

Given the last 10 years begins in 2010 and our first rounders in Hrovats years were Stronger and MacCrae not really sure why you are quoting me with inacurracies in every statement you are making

Haha. "Stronger MaccRae inacurracies."

You say the last 10 years begins in 2010, but we haven't had the 2019 draft yet.
So the last 10 drafts start in 2009 and finish in 2018.
And we didn't have first round picks in all of the last 10 drafts, so if the last 10 drafts that we made first round selections in is considered, that would include 2008 and 2007 as well.

We.have nailed every one of our first round draft picks since 2010 which is the last 10 years. Not sure why you would even dispute this as this is a fact not even an opinion.

The Clayton days and Dalrymples first are long gone

You mean Hrovat our first round, wrong, Cordy and Grant last 10 years wrong

I didn't say Cordy and Grant were in the last 10 years. You didn't read what I posted.
And Hrovat was a first round pick, your denial won't change this.

Oh and btw I said last 10 years not drafts and also our first round picks, maybe you should read before you post

10 years ago wasn't 2010, it was November 2009, when the 2009 draft occurred.

I like Jack Bell for our last pick. Ruck/forward with a good leap, strong hands (including his contested marking) but crap endurance. We have no key forwards developing in the VFL, and only Sweet in terms of rucks. Bell is more KPF than ruck, so could be a nice addition to develop long term. Trained with us this year too so would already know most of the boys and be familiar with the club, plus we would've had a decent look at him

You did it. You went and did it. There is always someone who has to do it. Just let it be and never mention his name again so the healing can be completed. We were so close but you had to rip the scab off the wound. I can't believe you did it.

Some news lads.

Pick 13 is proving very very popular. 2 teams in particular have made significant offers (including one offer of 2 picks inside 20) to move up.

Don’t surprised if we don’t end up picking at 13.

I don’t know who we’re targeting (and wouldn’t share it if I did), but it looks like we’ll wait and see if that players still on the board at 13 before deciding whether to move the pick or not.

Kemp and Robertson are the 2 that teams want to move up to try and land.

Yes when we picked up Howard, which I stated was the exception.

Seriously what is your motivation in these posts??

You bring up Hrovat as some technicality, though he was not our first round picks Stringer and Macre were.

You then change your narrative to bring in Cordy and Grant by changing from years to drafts to support some narrative I never brought up.

Now you are bringing in the Howard draft which was already noted as being the exception.

There is discussion in this thread about trading down, which would be dangerous given our record over that last 10 years on our first round draft picks with the exception of Howard.

There is also discussion about people with opinions that in the past have shown that those at the club knew more than the posters which the posters have put their hands up and admitted.

I have know idea what you are trying to prove, however apologies to other posters reading this thread

**** I'd be keen to go for that. I like Weightman at Pick 13, but I much prefer getting two comparable quality players.

The only teams with two top 20 picks are Gold Coast (15 and 20, and have said they want to trade up) and Port (16 and 18). I wouldn't be surprised if GC are eyeing off Kemp, and Port eyeing off Bergman/Day. This is looking like it's going to get very interesting.

Have confidence Mr Walker, we are no longer the club we once were where most of us were grey before 30

Picket could still be there....
