The NGAs really are a bloody joke, so many players in them that were always going to play Australian Rules.

The AFL being reactive again and bowing to the pressure of the big Victorian clubs to appease their angst re the Northern academies.
You can see why they were worried, given the Northern Clubs have won a grand total of 1 premiership in the past 10 years. The unfairly treated Victorian clubs have won only 8 out of 10 in the same time period.

Who are the A grade to elite players over the years that have come pouring out of the Northern Academies that have the Southern babies so worried?

Harris Andrews, Callum Mills, Isaac Heeney, Zac Williams + potentially elite/A grade- Eric Hipwood, Jacob Hopper, Harry Himmelberg. ???

Dream get for us this draft would be Lachlan Ash, likely to go around the 4-8 region of the draft, how the hell can we get him?.......... anyone?

The Saints are looking to bring in a few players so they may be open to our 16 and 21 for 6 and 57 so they can facilitate a couple of those trades. Lewy Taylor/Nick Robertson/Tom Cutler as steak knives??
Hey Jason did you do this table up? Or is it from somewhere on the net?

Jason mp, Werdna 78 - Lore from the Draft, Trading & FA board indeed does a great job informing people of what's happening during this period.
The thread eventually goes to many pages over this Trade/Draft period.

We just swapped picks with WC. It looks like we've lined up 52, 55 and 64 to use as academy points. Sorry I'm out of the loop - who is the academy player that we think will get bid on before 52?

Bergman and Stephens with their late push certainly worth a look. Dylan Williams and Trent Rivers as dark horse smokeys with plenty of x-factor and ability that we may consider too. Some potential injury sliders in Worrell, Brodie Kemp. Not to mention a few "undersized" players who are potential top 10 that could slide to us also - you never know what can happen on draft night! Would like to avoid Will Day (very light frame) and Devon Robertson (uncle is Darren Glass - I'd be losing sleep at night that he'd be poached by WCE if he became a star with us).

A couple of guys I'd be keen on with our first round pick would be Devon Robertson, Josh Worrell, Miles Bergman and Luke Jackson. Worrell in particular would develop nicely down back as an intercepting defender.
We already have Andrews and Walker, how many more intercepting defenders do we need? I'd rather get some speedy players like Jeremy Sharp, although I wouldn't mind Bergman or Jackson one bit.

I agree we need pace, and sharp fits that bill, BUT the knock on him is his contested work, and one of the things we have seen with Fages is he likes his wingers who have contested side to their game.
If we keep our current picks would be verry happy with Bergman with our 2nd pick, I like Jackson, BUT feel we are set for that type of player.

One of the biggest indicators of juniors making at the top level is their ability to be able to win their own ball (contested footy) and Sharp just doesn’t have this to his game so he is a massive NO for me. In regards to who the club should pick it’s advisable to listen to what Noble and Conole publicly state and that’s been mids and running defenders and use that as a guide. Coleman I believe is someone they think can be that running defender but his output when playing up forward in the NEAFL was quite impressive so wouldn’t be surprised to see us try take another in the draft. I also do believe that Fagan has raised players with some speed as a need so should also be a factor. I think the likes of Cooper Stephens, Jay Rantall and even possibly Deven Robertson as possible mids. I like Will Day as a running/intercepting defender but also names like Flynn Perez and yes, maybe if we move up high enough Lachlan Ash. One things is for sure just have to wait until after the trade period to get a better idea of our picks don’t forget that picks can also be traded right up until draft day as well.
