One of the biggest indicators of juniors making at the top level is their ability to be able to win their own ball (contested footy) and Sharp just doesn’t have this to his game so he is a massive NO for me. In regards to who the club should pick it’s advisable to listen to what Noble and Conole publicly state and that’s been mids and running defenders and use that as a guide. Coleman I believe is someone they think can be that running defender but his output when playing up forward in the NEAFL was quite impressive so wouldn’t be surprised to see us try take another in the draft. I also do believe that Fagan has raised players with some speed as a need so should also be a factor. I think the likes of Cooper Stephens, Jay Rantall and even possibly Deven Robertson as possible mids. I like Will Day as a running/intercepting defender but also names like Flynn Perez and yes, maybe if we move up high enough Lachlan Ash. One things is for sure just have to wait until after the trade period to get a better idea of our picks don’t forget that picks can also be traded right up until draft day as well.
I don’t see the appeal with Deven Robertson. I’d prefer Rantall if it was a straight choice between the two. And we already have Zac Bailey and Tom Joyce who can both play as smaller inside mids.

Rantall could play a similar game as Mitch Robinson with his elite running and clean hands. He would just need to work on his kicking, similar to Mitch.

Robertson is best accumulator in the draft. If we need someone to find contested footy and be a midfield linchpin, he can do that very well. Great tackling and speed too. He's definitely above Rantall for me. The only big concerns are go home factor and whether we actually need another accumulator.

That’s pretty much what I’ve said before, we don’t really need another accumulator.

If Neale and Mathieson both go down, who would you prefer to bring in to the team, Corey Lyons or Deven Robertson?

Due to the more senior players playing a lot through the midfield at NEAFL level, we haven’t seen a lot of what Ely Smith and Tom Joyce (and Tom Berry) can do as our regular on ballers.

Lyons, but then I have a man crush on him, he's easily my favourite player in the reserves. I think Robertson will become a very good AFL player however. He isn't my first choice, but I wouldn't be opposed to Robertson if he dropped to us and most of the players better suited to us were off the board.

Hey all want your opinion on this scenario or any other scenarios that could work.

Essendon are looking to trade up this year and I’ve been looking at potential clubs that could possible entertain a trade. Knowing you have a few decent players in your academy like Coleman next year I can see Essendon offering one of their picks in the 30s this year and a future second next year for your pick 21.

a few later selections could be traded aswell and how many players do you see being drafted in this year and how many available spots are on the rookie list for the likes of Martyn and Cumberland if they get through?

I'd suspect we'd be looking at keeping 21, at least until the draft, because we saw last year how valuable these early second round picks are because of the split draft. We also would probably be looking at doing the opposite to what you propose and looking at trying to combine multiple picks into single picks. We currently have 6 picks inside 55 and after the trade period have no list spots currently available (7 players out of contract). That being said, I feel as though Noble would be keen to get back into the second round next year, just not sure it'll be at the expense of pick 21.

Regarding Coleman, I'm not sure how he's rated currently, but we do have two third rounders at the moment and potentially more to come from trades this year and next year.

Depends how many of the 7 out of contract players we re-sign. Currently we have 40 on our senior list, so a few will need to be delisted. We also like moving a player or two onto our rookie list.

Rookie list wise we have 3 out of contract (including Eagles who we are trying to retain as a cat B) and Oscar will need to be upgraded.

We have stock piled some later picks for academy players this year, and with 16 and 21 we will be looking at trying to move up the draft board ourselves.

Everyone is looking to trade up this year in a weaker draft. Noble has said as much for us. If we can't trade 16 and 21 for a top 12 pick we will keep them. I doubt we would trade down to a pick in the 30's given it is possible a bid will come in for Coleman before then.

Hey eDPS

Can't see us wanting to move back in the draft. Most likely scenarios are we try and package 16 and 21 to move up in to the top 12 picks. We might also try and package a couple of our late 2nd round and 3rd round picks to move up another top 30 pick this year, or trade for a future second round pick or picks next year. I'd be eying off Fremantle's second round pick or St Kilda's second round pick held by Collingwood if I was the club.

We're more likely to de-list and re-draft a couple of contracted players, or re-draft two or three of our out of contract senior players to our rookie list, to help open up senior list spots. As far as I can tell, we have three rookie list spots to fill this year.

Noble in an earlier interview mentioned we are looking at one academy player at the draft this year. Most here assume it's Keidean Coleman. There's an outside chance we might keep a rookie spot for Noah Cumberland.

Most likely, those top academy kids who aren't drafted, will be offered a place in our U19 academy. I read earlier this season that is what the club plans to do with Kobe Tozer. Most likely scenario is that Cumberland and Martyn join the U19 academy as well if they go un-drafted, and we a similar situation next year as we saw with Keidean Coleman this year, where they exclusively play in the NEAFL team, injuries permitting with the senior squad.

Thanks that helps me out plenty, have an idea for another club but how would your pick 34 for our future second sound?
Really depends if we believe you’re a bottom 6 team, or a finals team or not, next year.

How many kids will potentially be bid on before pick 30 next year?

And how teams will hold picks between 10 and 30 and lose those picks matching bids on their F/S or Academy kids?

If your future pick looks like moving back 6 or more spots, I wouldn’t do the trade.

This is quite a talented group and nearly all will be draft age in 2020. Hopefully their development continues well next year. Some very draftable players in that crew.

Is a forward also, a regular goal-kicker for Wilston Grange Colts this year, averaging 3 goals a game as a 16yo. Probably can be described as a similar type player, possibly more of a classic forward, although I didn’t see much of Connor at the same age to compare effectively. Probably there’s a question of whether he dominates as a forward due to his size. Chat lately is he’s more likely to choose cricket over footy, but he’s only young - there’s a lot of water to go under the bridge yet.

What kind of size? Bigger than his brother?

Again, hard for me to say as I didn’t see very much of CJ at the same age. But he’s bigger now than his brother. From what I’ve seen he plays as a classic full-forward. Measured at 186cm at the start of the year, but looked like he was closer to 190cm by the end of the season (guessing though). Whether he keeps growing is another issue. Judge might have more insight .
