Considering how messed up the draft is already thanks to academies, Thomas and Quaynor last year were first round free hits - I don't think it's too much to ask for a relaxation of the father-son rule to allow us to draft Noah Anderson.

We have had next to no hits with father sons or academy players, so using the criteria for unusual circumstances the AFL absolutely could give us priority access to Noah. Lets be honest they make up the rules as they go anyway and 'priority access' might be more palatable than a priority pick to other clubs.

God knows we need some help or else I'm seriously worried about our future.

He'd 100% nominate the Hawks anyway. We're better off hoping the AFL doesn't change it so Hawthorn doesn't get another free top 2 pick while still pretending they've never had draft assistance

The AFL aren't changing the rules for us. It would have the whole league shaking their heads, let's move on.

Melbourne will likely be sitting 17th after this round. That would give them Anderson in the draft. 12 months after making a prelim. *Whilst we'll be stuck with another HBFer.*

That's a kick in the guts.

Please don’t even suggest we’ll draft another HBFer. I can’t even ...

Hawks wouldn't have access though. I'm not saying the father son rule should be relaxed for all, just for us as a result of the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in.

Just sitting back, arms behind their head, thinking - there’s the golden goose boys. No one will want him now.

When I was young I worked at Myer in holidays, they used to have sales where they would just chuck absolute shit out with low prices. I have never got over the odd campaigners that used to shop in the bargain bins, stuff that ws broken or too small/big for them...no worries. Pretty sure I saw Libba and Trout there most weeks.

It’s a sound strategy if you believe that the player will recover and they represent value at that pick, for example Bytel.

It may be, but very hard to take as an impatient fan when your first two picks last season sat out injured.

Lot of risk in the strategy early on other than taking best available. Pick 40 for Bytel is a no risk. Barely any players that high play regular senior football.

I wouldn’t have taken king at our pick last year but others tell me he would have been pick 1.

Personally I think you want to see these guys slide out of their normal range before you start thinking their too good to pass up. Bytel really represents that value strategy king on the other hand was pretty much on the money. If they both make it fantastic if they don’t it will be the king pick that gets talked about.

Lachie ash is something different to a half back flanker. His run and carry is like Jason johannison. Although not ideal who else do we look at? Serong could be lachie Neale although his foot skills in open space worried me at the champs and is on the smaller side aswell as not being lightning quick. Wouldn’t be surprised if we try and trade down either.

Or Freeman or Hanners or Jess Smith.

We will be the Hobart Saints still waiting for our bargain bin specials to become the next Daisy Thomas.
