The money we've offered Newnes must be atrocious. Can't believe he hasn't signed considering there's 2 years in front of him.
To be fair, it must be quite a comedown from playing 2,548 consecutive games for the Saints in the AFL to facing the prospect of playing 36 games in a row for Sandringham in the VFL.

You can have a rookie for 20 years. It’s just after 2 he can be taken by some other club.

If he wants to, but if both parties agree the player can just sign another contract after two years. It's only after three years that they have to go back to the draft if you want to keep them on.

Is there still an offer? Didn’t even know we offered him anything. Maybe he won’t be delisted then

Personally I wouldn't delist him. Reckon he's good depth. It was only 18 odd months ago that he was OK.

I can understand if he asks to leave coz he has offers elsewhere but I wouldn't be just throwing him out the door

It actually makes me excited. We have been dithering too long with too many players in the past in the past and so good to see some quicker decision making.

We took a batch of late, rookie, supp and mid-season draft picks last season. Such picks are always going to be less likely to make it.

We have found some gold in Wilkie, and may be in some others. We have cut Young the least promising of the lot and this means we can look for more players that will make it.

We need to keep churning. This is how you discover the Marshall's and Wilkie's of the world.

Either that or stay bottom 4 as you never settle on a line up.

Jones is replacing him. Then Paton.
I'm ok with it tbh, and he wasn't really on many people's keep list before trade period.
He'll be picked up by someone surely, but if he's not then it was the right decision in the end.

Apart from the fact we will completely piss him off and he may want to leave. Of course we upgrade him because it’s clearly the right thing to do by him
We didn't upgrade Marshall even though he signed an extension

I guess he was just paid a bit more the 3rd year to make up the difference.

Assuming we retained all our current players, we'd be taking 51 & 82 to the draft, using 100 to promote Joyce or Wilkie, and either take no new rookies or re-list Joyce. Then we'd likely select a supplementary player for McCartin in February.
Given that 37 are on our primary list and we get 3 more in the draft, could we hold onto all 5 Category A rookies if McCartin is still in "unavailable/injured"?

Without in depth knowledge beyond what's quickly accessible and given the very recent nature of the supplementary player system, I'd say no, at least not in the general case.

However, given Paddy's well documented issues, and minuscule likelihood of returning to the field, I could imagine that we'd be able to get some sort of specific exemption to do so if we chose to ask. But I'm not a list manager or a club executive or anything.

I’d rather have Sam Gray on the list than Newnes. Likely to be a DFA, get him in as a depth outside mid.

Newnes has had more than enough chances... time to move on from blokes getting games because they played well 2 seasons ago.

Jacob Townsend is another one that might be worth a look in the draft or as delisted free agent. Better than offering a pick 80-100 kid a 2 year contract through the draft.

Mitch Hibberd is another one that might be worth a second chance. Anyone seen him play vfl recently?

Apparently Hibberd has been playing as an inside mid for Williamstown and thriving. But have we got room for him with Ross and Dunstan?
Cole Gerloff has had a good season.

Zac Pretty , who was totally off the radar as an U17, has had a good season at Eastern Ranges.
If its a slow developer for his age thing, he could continue to improve.
#23 Zac Pretty
Pretty had a strong game through the midfield with his clearance work and attack on the ball again a feature. Pretty won most improved for Eastern having come into the year relatively unknown to scouts and was rewarded with a state combine invite so his draft chances are still alive. Pretty was a hard worker through the midfield and although he was mostly digging handballs out, he was doing his best to bring his teammates into the game. Pretty finished the game with 20 disposals and four tackles and topped the NAB League for disposals this year.

woah.

Needing a ruckman , i wondered about Biggy's brother Gach, thinking if he was delisted for that publicised incident , he might have turned himself around a bit since then.

But looking into it, Essendon had plenty of reasons to delist him even without the off field stuff.
Jason Holmes looked like a star compared to Gach.

Since Essendon i think he's been lacklustre at the Demons and Frankston, and is now playing for Doveton.

I hope his brother is made of better stuff.

CALLUM JAMIESON – CLAREMONT
The North Beach junior has shown promising signs as a developing ruckman who can rest up forward. In three games for the Sandgropers, Jamieson kicked two goals and averaged nine possessions, five hit-outs, three marks, three tackles, and two inside 50s. His best game of the Championships came against Vic Country where he finished with 10 possessions, six hit-outs, four marks, three tackles and a goal. In six games for Claremont, Jamieson is averaging 15 possessions, 24 hit-outs, five tackles, four marks and has already kicked three goals. His best performances came against Perth (19 possessions and 38 hit-outs) and Swan Districts (18 possessions and 39 hit-outs). He made his senior debut for Claremont with its Reserves team against Perth in round 16 and showed excellent signs with nine possessions, 13 hit-outs and a goal. At 200 centimetres, Jamieson has raw athleticism, good skills and is a strong mark of the football.

Read the trade below it.
Its not exactly clear the way you've written it.

So North have pick 27.
They don't want it , because its an unlucky number in some suburbs North of Melbourne

So North like us so much they will trade us 27 for 3 late picks?
One is our 51.
Then Ports. 4th round? So that's the 2020 4th round pick we got as part of the Howard/Ryder trade.

Then because the deal isn't real good we swap 5th rounders because ours is 2 picks earlier.

Thats a great deal. We get to swap our crap picks with their good pick.
Why don't you go onto the Norf board and suggest it.
