Can't say I've been less enthused about draft day for some time.

Hopefully gags pulls a rabbit out of his hat somehow to make things interesting either tonight or tomorrow


Still, I am very happy with our trade period so a big thumbs up overall.

I think the thing with Chirgwin is he’s a proper inside player. By my count we’ve got just three true inside midfielders (Dunstan, Steele and Bytel). We definitely need more. We’ve got a few of the balanced type like Ross, Hannebery, Clark and Gresham.

I don’t mind Dunstan and Steele but I’m excited about Bytel. Chirgwin could be a good player given the numbers he’s posted and the fact he’s relatively new to that position.

You watch, it'll be brought in just before we finally discover a top 10 academy kid. And you can bet there'll be no discretion given retrospectively to ensure all clubs have benefitted equally at some point

I should add, i am happy for the discount to be scrapped (if not the whole BS acedemy idea) but every club should get to benefit equally. This will not occur

Ryan Byrnes a bloody good footballer a sandy boy and captain of a great side. Right under our noses I would be suprised if he’s there and we don’t select him. Prefer him over chirgwin something doesn’t seem right with his hands and disposal by hand or foot. Byrnes the more natural footballer for me.

I don't know anything about Sharman but at a glance he seems similar to Mayo. Not sure why we'd pick yet another tall forward.

"Yet another"? Compared to tall backs on our list, tall forwards are as scarse as hens teath.

Dunno, a bunch of the backs can go forward and personally I just don’t think tall forwards are that important. I’d take mids in bulk before another tall forward.

If you see Twomey's mock draft from last week, he thought clubs would be passing as early as in the 50s which we'd be able to snaffle up with a future 4th.
It's not much to hang our hats on, but within context it's amazballs!!

It’s impossible to say who will be there at our picks, we just have to wait and hope someone we rate slips to us.

We have a lousy hand and have managed to hamstring ourselves next year as well. During the trade period there were quite a few posters banging on about just getting trades done and why does it matter what we get for Bruce as long as it gets us Jones etc.

Well trading like two bob millionaires not trying to “win” trades gets you a draft hand like ours. I can’t believe we couldn’t have done better we were bent over in just about every trade imo. I like the players just not the trades and now we’re about to find out the price of rolling over.

Gee how I hope Geelong draft a sack of spuds.

I dont think we will end up matching a bid for him. I think we will either take him as a Cat B rookie or just let someone else have him.
It's not like we are desperate for another key defender, so no point getting him unless it's for free.

Stewart was a late pick. But anyway they’ve managed to remain competitive for a very long time. No flags since 2011 but surely we can judge them on wins and losses. Wells is clearly better than most. I’d certainly take him.

If its a genuine bid, and he's worth getting at that pick, we take him, he already has some ties to the club.
Like the great discount we got with father/son pick Baily R...... never mind.

I have such little faith in our recruiting team (not sure why, our last few drafts have been pretty good with our later picks) that I just feel they could get distracted by him being discounted and take him to sit with our other 8 key defenders and then ignore what we actually need which is midfielders.

Or we will instead bring in another half back and a small forward with our two picks, one called jack and the other with a long term injury.

Scenario two feels very our recruiting team.
