He looks like Brodie Grundy. Ex Australian basketball squad member and talented. They don't need him though. I would have taken Ash or Young if I was them.

They don't need him NOW, but Grundy was a freak, most rucks, take years to develop. Gawn took 4 years.
And, unless they are morons at the trade table like the Saints, rucks hold currency at the trade table.

Maybe Richmond knocked it back because they are forecasting a Saints Tigers 2020 prelim.

Teams don't bet on futures.
If we wanted to trade our future first ( unknown position ) the best we would get would be an early second.
We were never going to trade into this first round, and people who thought were were are delusional.

Whomever it is we pick first up, i just want to see an emphasis on the most skillful ball user!
Actually make that all 3 picks......With the way our list is shaped and the likely game plan going forward
We can't get enough of them to be honest, a bit of mongrel wouldn't go astray either!

With our picks, the most skillful ball user will be some guy who never gets near it to use his skills, another Murdoch.

Huh ? The suggestion was potentially swap firsts for 26 and 36 so let’s say 10 2020 for 14 2020, 26 and 36. ( would only consider it if the thought was we’d improve and cats would decline )

Not ‘give up pick 8 for 26’.

It might end up being ten , but no prospective trade partner will value our future pick at 10.
They wouldn't swap their future pick with us, let alone add even 36.

Was thinking about this since this arvo. But seriously beyond the first two picks how unbelievably shit is this draft.

The quality is extremely poor.

My beef actually is with guys like Callum Twomey, Beveridge , Edwards and all the crew regarding the draft.

They hype the expectations of supporters with overinflated commentary of the kids, there will be some
young players who will become good players with maturity.
Think there are players like Gould supporters will say in a years time how did they all miss him.

I think he’s a gun, he doesn’t look athletic and sometimes people over analyse the situation.

I think the knock on Gould is that he’ll just be a third defender at AFL level blah, blah. Hype, last night the team on fox likened every player to some of the best footballers going around, it started with Rowell who was compared to Voss then Anderson with Fyfe and on it went.

Wasn't Crocker the best kick in Australia , shame he couldn't get it

Last year we scored 3 latish picks, all mature agers who had for whatever reason been on the radar when they were 18.
Previously 2017, we saw picks like Paton, and Worpel as genuine young draft picks still available at the end of the draft ( not sure that quality will be in this draft i hope so.). Oskar Baker , mature ager.

Lewis young was a late selection 2016. Willie Rioli. Ed Phillips. Nick Larkey. Mitch Lewis Zack Gurthrie.
Luke Ryan and Rowan Marshall were overage picks who had not been on the draft radar as 18YO's.

Players are out there, but its a lucky dip.
Our first pick this year is probably a decision to get an 18YO kid from the tail end of the talent pool, who may not ever get there, or to take a player from the state leagues who may be ultimately limited.

Seriously - a ruckman @ Pick 3 and Sam Flanders @ Pick 11.

No wonder we can fill up pages and pages on draft possibilities.

Did you see the clip of the ruckman kicking on his left last night? Boy oh boy..

I wasnt paying super close attention but I could have sworn James Manson was just drafted

Edit- check out the 1.10 minute mark. He almost falls over!

He might be a player but gee

Draft over two nights is crap. Interviews and hugs it should be called. Much preferred getting it all done in one night with each club announcing their picks tabled amongst one another. This new format is super lame and as dull as an advanced Word training workshop.

And how do you know this?

ITK?

Or just enjoying shooting down the suggestions/queries of others?
