Burgoyne would be great to have around but besides him I can't see any quality player (best 22) joining us. Wooden spoon and 18 losses in a row have that impact.
There are some players who will put financial security above success at this stage of their career. I think the Suns will at least be considered by Keath and Greenwood, should they be offered 4 year deals around their asking price. That's their sticking point with Adelaide from what has been reported.

I rate him 6-10 in this draft so I’d be wanting something extra thrown in.
Who's your top 5 Bods?
If we get 8 or 12 for Martin we could combine it with Brisbane's first round - trade to Melbourne and have 3 early picks.

That’s the thing in a good team he will to a superstar.

Victorian clubs know that but will be doing everything they can to play dumb and get him cheap
I’ll believe it when I see it. How many players have left us and turned into superstars / much better players than they were here? Gaz got worse, Lynch same if not worse, Prestia about the same, maybe a bit better, O’Cockface gets more ball but has less impact, May shizenhousen.

I still see the suns trading picks into the next years draft if we don’t pick up players... If we have 3 first rounders and then lose Martin and Ah Chee we will have too. No point trading up in this draft unless your GWS

Agree if we’re going to land Keath or Greenwood it’s got to be worth their while and a long term deal. We need to not shy away from the fact that we need to be aggressive at the trade table.

Two thoughts re trades:

Possibility if Martin goes to Bulldogs we get a pick and Lin Jong? heard he wants out? How is his mental health these days and playing propects, we were once chasing him 2 years ago I believe

Has anyone else heard we are after Chris Masten, if so thoughts?

If in some way you guys can turn Ah Chee & Martin into Tom Greene who is a academy selection for GWS then you would have done brilliantly (personally think he will be the best player from this draft)

Bid pick #1 which will get GWS thinking very hard if they should match or not due to massive point difference
Pick #2 Anderson

Masten and Jong would be solid bodies, I don't think it makes us heaps, but they would do a job for a few years.

Someone on the Eagles board suggesting a 2 year deal for Masten.

Jong had a chance 2 years ago to join and he rebuffed, I don't think he has gotten any better since.

Vitamin D (Sunshine) will do him the world of good. He would be handy.
I think he will develop quickly given opportunity he gets none at Bulldogs one of the best midfields l have ever seen.

We appear unlikely to get an increase in our playing salary cap as part of our concessions, even though there are obvious reasons why we should #gohomefactor

More likely we'll be allowed to go over our soft cap for coaching, player excellence etc to help with retention. If we bring in blokes like Burgoyne or Betts as onfield coaches, I wonder whether we could arrange to pay for the coaching part of their salaries outside the playing salary cap #canofworms. Maybe that would only be allowed after they stop playing. Any deal would have to be ratified by the AFL, of course.

Wasn’t it recently reported that we are spending 1 million under on the soft cap anyway

Sam McClure seems to think saints will ask the question re- Ben King this trade period but will get a big fat no. Bens parents want him to stay on the coast at least another year. Expect saints to go hard for him next season. Suns really need to preform next year to have any chance of him wanting to stay

Even with his manager coming out saying he would definitely honour his contract for 2020?
“Ben King will play at Gold Coast next year,” D’Orazio said.

Ben himself "All I can say really is I'm loving living on the Gold Coast, I love all the boys and all the coaching staff as well. I feel like we've got a really strong culture at the club.

"I couldn't be happier with the Suns."

It's Victorian clickbait. My biggest concern was him leaving after 1 year. After that I think it's the Saints who should be concerned.

Back end Burgoyne and Betts deals to pay them more when they are coaching than when they are playing - work the system

No and No from me.
Jong very injury prone (last thing we need)
Masten similar to players we recruited last year.
OK but nothing special.
I wouldn't mind Masten tbh, especially if it was only 2 years, however, Jong's hammy are made of mince meat and would spend serious time in the recovery group.
