Stack isn't an ex-convict. He was just a kid who played up a bit. Different situations but both carry risk. If they can get 4 years of footy out of Pickett without a hitch then it is a win. He is a jet.
That is what rookie pick for.i had not heard anything bad about pickett after his jail time compare to dyle garlett.

Yeah, him and Issac Smith from hawks apparantely. Now they have salary from Boyd's retirement.
What’s your thoughts on this, when buddy received a massive contract the AFL banned them from a draft and any outstanding $$$ have to stay on the cap but the dogs do the same and it’s all ok apparently

The difference here is that Buddy was a free agent when he went to the Swans. Where as Tom Boyd was a trade so they had to give something up for him.

If clubs have the money, it shouldn't matter what they offer players. AFL were just dirty because they wanted GWS to get Buddy, not Sydney who were already a good team. But many players have big contracts. IE: Lynch at Tigers, Dusty at Tigers.

But I agree it shouldn't matter which club you are, should be equal and fair.

C'mon Jen, of course it should be equal and fair, but it's not. The whole AFL competition is not equal and fair.....and it starts with 18 teams playing 22 rounds... not equal or fair......and it just gets progressively worse from there.

But I don't think in the short term, in my lifetime anyway, that we have the population or the financial backing for it to be equal and fair, so we have to put up with the way it is....

BUT I'll still watch as many games as I can (on WatchAFL) and still participate in keeper leagues....and still crack the sh*ts when I feel the need...:D:D

Trade targets

Jack Martin: The Gold Coast speedster, off contract at the end of 2019, would add pace to a slow Crows midfield. The rebuilding Suns could be tempted to trade the 24-year-old for a second-round pick.

Apparently all you'd get for Martin is a 2nd rounder

There is no mid season trade, so writer just BS whatever he/she want.

Haha in a fantasy world where there is a mid season trade period, Gold Coast is looking to offload its best player, and a club with 2 first round picks only has to spend a second to get him.

Whats the bet that article was penned by a South Aussie?

Hypothetical.. say Jack Martin requests a trade at the end of the year and the club wants a first round pick do they
A. Take the first round pick to the draft
B. Trade it for an existing 22/25 year old player

If all of our list were in a room and you’d could only pick 5 players now, I don’t have Jack in there myself. The potential tag can only last so long. There are some boys who have gone straight past him this year

Your club would prefer option B any day of the week, but might not be possible (at least, not directly). May end up trading for picks then dangling that currency in the face of another club. It's difficult being a club from a non-football state, as it's rare for players to want to directly head there unless they are going home (with rare exceptions like Neale to the Lions).

A lot of the best QLD players are already playing for the Lions or Suns, or are too old (Dixon, Armitage for example). Other options might be Aliir Aliir, Zac Smith or Lachlan Keeffe, but none of them are worth the same as Jack Martin so either way, you guys are forced to go to the draft

I'm sorry but is there another up and coming Zac Smith playing top level AFL I haven't heard of, or is this the same never any good Zac Smith we disposed of in 2015 because he couldn't get a game for us and now can't get a game for Geelong?
Being mentioned as a trade for Jack martin?
I'm surprised you didn't suggest Aaron Hall

Mate feel free to actually read what you quoted, I clearly said he's not worth as much as Martin, but please don't let that get in the way of your melt.
Zac Smith is a reasonable backup ruckman, which could come in handy if anything were to happen to Witts/Wright. There's been multiple cases of players being traded back to their original clubs, so it's not out of the question - plus I only mentioned him as an example since he's a QLD player

With Sydney Picking Knoll in mid season draft , I think GCS could go for Darcy Cameron who is out of contract. I am not too worried about Martin going, apart from Victoria club, I believe Fremantle could be interested, I would take Langdon, Blakely, Nyhuis (not part of the deal as he is still on rookie list) and their second Rd pick and trade Martin, Brisbane first round pick., Richmond third Rd pick off.

You need to understand a little bit about player histories and worth before entering into trade discussions
Zac Smith is worth nothing.Zilch.Zero.
You may have heard of a ruck called Tom Nicholls (although given you mentioned Zac Smith as part of a player traded I doubt it)who plays NEAFL for us and is better than Zac Smith in every facet, and even he's so far off AFL level it's not funny

If we managed to entice a player of that quality (around pick 10)to the club then for sure we would be trading the pick.
We would still have our own pick 2 and Brisbane’s which will fall around 10 as well.
Just depends on who that player we can target is (we would probably have to pay overs as we usually do)
