Been a little bullish on Greenwood for some time so hope it does happen. Interestingly he has also just started following Ellis from Tigers so another good sign. He also has good genes - his mother and father both played at high sporting levels, his sister played college basketball in USA and his grandfather played in three consecutive premierships for Melbourne Demons. It's been stated he would like to play out his career in AFL over next 4-5 years and then go back to USA and try and get a gig as a college basketball coach. Maybe we can convince him to hang around here and coach if all goes well. Sounds to me like the sort of all round guy we need.

Wasn't the deal between Evans and Weller?
Clayton was just the guy in the middle trying to make the best of it
Clayton we pre occupied giving away 21, 26, 30 to the Eagles. Then straight away apply for a job there. :drunk:

I don't have a problem with the Weller deal.
Martin was pick 2 for instance and we got bugger all out of him in 6 years.

Weller for 2 was ordinary. Ballard could have easily been a Schoenfeld type and the trade would have been an outright disaster. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
Totally agree

Does point out the whole draft is a shot in the dark - plenty of top 10’s failed and plenty outside the top 20 turned into superstars

I called that after the Lions game. Just need to see if the other part of my prediction comes true and Ellis gets dropped for him.
So did I, now let's see what we missed out on in the mid draft. Could be in there to nullify the Toby G factor - will go in with everything blazing.

Let's revisit this after the GF to see how he goes when the real heat is applied.

I'm not too concerned with how he performs in Finals. If he comes to us, then I'm more concerned with how he performs in H&A, cause I don't think we'll be in finals anytime soon...but hopefully he may assist us to get to Finals.I think that's what we should be looking at.

Richmond finished 13th in 2016 and Brandon Ellis stats
22 games
24 pos
6 marks
2.5 tackles
75% DE

I'd take that every day of the week.......especially the 75% DE
He has pretty much maintained his average stats his entire career and been consistant, He has been a good player for Richmond but we have passed him by and need to off load players demanding bigger $$$ where we have depth. Menaude,Naish,Turner,Markov all playing the same role in the reserves for $100k a year.

Dont expect him be the player to go in hard into packs but expect him to get the ball on the outside and he will be fine, Regarding over paying him with $$$$ side of things you guys might want to compare his $600k to Polec $750k and their output is identical

I kinda feel like ellis has never been able to shake the tag of being a squib, but the past few years I've seen him go when it has been his turn, running back with the flight of the ball, filling in a hole in front of key fwds, just my opinion but I think his reputation is alot worse than his output.

And with Brad Crouch, I understand his kicking efficiency is down this year, and I've only seen his game against us this year, but in previous years I thought of him to be an above average kick of the footy, I was surprised to see his % so low

Polec more attacking with combined goals
/ goal assists 20-25 per season. Ellis 10-15 per season.
Score involvements ~5.5 vs 4.5. Polec viewed as more damaging / better kick.

Ellis more defensive with intercept possessions ~4.5-5.5 vs Polec 3.5-4.5

A defensive winger suits us just fine I’d say!
