I agree with both you gents, Make him work for it but the pathway is there if his body is up to it and he wants it bad enough.

Be a movie worthy redemption story if he comes good but with little to no risk on our part.

Agree with all of the comments. I would love to have Harley back and I think he has matured enough now especially with a baby.

Bennell I feel may get rookied somewhere but not at the Suns. A team in the window like a Geelong or Richmond or lions the best fit for him I reckon.

As for academy, I think Conroy will get rookied and gore stays as a 19 year old neafl player.

Possibly also could say something worthwhile about the Club that we feel we can handle someone with a bit of baggage

This is knightmares personal pre draft ranking from the two recent drafts.
Fair to say we’ve got some nuggets.

How good will it be to see rankine play!

Looking forward to it.

We will be debuting picks 1,2 and 3 next year.

I would like to just say that I am really impressed with the work of Craig Cameron thus far. Such a big difference from Clayton. Recruits logically and doesn't try to be too clever. Seems to be great at luring actual quality players.

I suspect he puts in a lot more ground work during the year than Clayton did.

"Doesn't try to be too clever" key line here. Clayton was terrible.

Bennell may go to Hawks with their top class medical team , Conroy fate may depend on B Crossley and given the demand for small forwards that can hit the scoreboard Gore wont be returning as an overager. If they get Rosa he may force Ace to go around again in the academy

Really hope we take Ace. I rate him.

James Brayshaw IQ = 4

Any word on Fitzroy Greenwol? Saw some really good things during the year - is he of draft age yet?
I love his name & also the idea of Greenwool working in tandem with Greenwood, but I don't think he'll make it at AFL level. Ace looks a better chance, but still unlikely to play more than 20 AFL games. I'd love both these players to prove me wrong. A lot will depend on how much they want to succeed & how much hard work they're prepared to put in. Being so small, they need to be very, very good to compete at that level.

Name a star no.1 or no. 2 draft pick from 2014 onwards. Name a no.1 pick other than hodge or riewldt that a team was built around.

Surely its better trading both picks and bring in proven quality. I would use pick 1 and lucious for the crouch bros and their first rounder.
Pick 2 for king.
You should still get a mid to late first rounder for martin, which still brings in talent, plus 2 proven a grade players and being proactive instead of reactive by going after king.

With logic like that I can't believe you're not a list manager somewhere. You're giving flight stewards everywhere a bad name.
Luko, Rowell, Anderson are non-negotiable. We would like one B Crouch but he isn't worth selling the farm for.
You don't build teams around one random no. 1 pick, you're right. But we will build around Luko, Rowell and Anderson with some intelligent list building garnered from lessons learned and not listening to flight stewards from Geelong!

We are doing exactly what we said we were going to do, gathering proven mature talent while getting two of the best kids in the draft who are best mates to deal with past retention issues, we dont need to lose picks 1, 2 or Luko to achieve this.

Brad Crouch is good but has a bad injury history (we have enough of this) and Matt is a good at accumulating possessions but isnt very damaging with them.

Thats right you either do what gold coast currently do which is a feeder club for vic teams to raid for a pittance,
Or
You can go to the draft just like melbourne and carlton have done for the past decade with a multitude od of no.1 & 2 picks at their disposal, gee they have been real contenders by using the draft. To add insult into you theory their best players in cripps and gawn were not even top 10 picks. In fact in you at the national draft a decade ago the dees were in the same position as the suns with the no. 1 & 2 pick, and they went just like you guys are going to do and picked 2 mids to build their team around, fast forward 10 years, neither player is still there, with scully just a footballer and trengove has been delisted. They passed on dusty martin (no 3) and nate fyfe (no. 20). In fact the best 5 players in the league in particular order
Cripps (pick 13)
Danger (pick 10)
Dusty (3)
Grundy (18)
Bont (4)
None are pick 1 or 2. If you look at this years all australian team, there are no no.1 picks in that team.
You would be better off having 5 picks in the top 20 then pick 1 and 2 or getting some quality in before you get the trengove and scully combo

swallow/bennell
patton/coniglio
whitfield/orourke
boyd/kelly
mccartin/petracca
weitering/schache
mcgrath/taranto

guess you'd say that every midfielder picked at the top end bar o'rourke (shit) and bennell (injury) turned out pretty good.
I'd take two of swallow/coniglio/whitfield/kelly/taranto everyday

Every draft is totally different so bringing up past 1 / 2 is irrelevant.
This year it's about us drafting the best midfield talent as early as we can, and equally important is talent retention. Rowell & Anderson are standouts.

Richmond the best team for the past 3 years ion the back of midfielders Cotchin 2 and Martin 3. Throw in Prestia another top 10 pick.
Before them you had Hawthorn with Hodge 1 (2 Norm Smiths), Roughead 2, Franklin 5 winning 3 flags.
Geelong 3 flags with with Selwood 7, Bartel 8. Hawkins would've been 1 except the father son leg up rule they got.
Judd 3.
Collingwood's 2 best players in the 2010 premiership year were Thomas 2 and Pendlebury 5.
Bulldogs win a flag with Bont 4 and Macrae 6.
Giants make the GF with Whitfield 1, Kelly 2, Taranto 2 in their best 6.

So yeah you'll get the odd Fyfe at 20 and Cripps at 12 but the odds are seriously in favour of drafting the best players in the top 5

What do you think would be a fair trade?
He finished 22nd in your best and fairest
and had one of the lower votes/game of the top 30
was dropped multiple times this year

not much
if you get a pick inside 35 think you've done well considering how your coaching staff rated him

big guys more hit and miss.

Thoughts on Greenwood and 48 for pick 20?
With the adjustment to pre listing academy kids, pick 48 is pretty much worthless to us.
That means 20 for Greenwood is not realistic. Pick 30 - 35 would be fair.
