List Mgmt. 2019 Draft/Trade/FA Thread - Final Wrap

Is it just me but in previous years when I have listened to trade radio. When a contracted player wanted to leave northern clubs lions for example and nominated a Club in Vic. All we heard was once a player selected a Vic club say for example bombers that the deal would get done and more or less be happy with what you get. And if they play hard ball they are being unrealistic and are being difficult to deal with. Now Lloyd and co take a different view this year when their clubs are loosing quality players and cary on about honoring contracts and clubs should stick to there guns and force players to stay or demand over the top compensation. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Gold Coast ruckman Tom Nicholls is retiring from the game to turn his attention to a career as an investment banker.
Foxsports.com.au can reveal the 27-year-old has attracted interest from a few different clubs this year, but is ready to start the next phase of his life after more than a decade in the AFL system.

Greater Western Sydney and Sydney inquired earlier this year, while Port Adelaide, Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs have monitored him in recent years.

It is understood that the Suns were open to re-signing him for 2020, following a standout season in the NEAFL where he was named in the team of the year.

But after more than a decade at the struggling Suns, Nicholls is ready to explore the world of finance.

The Victorian made the decision in Hawaii this week after spending time with his family in the United States for his brother’s wedding.

He phoned Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew, senior assistant coach Dean Solomon, co-captain David Swallow and a number of others from the Suns to notify them of his decision.

Good to see Cameron is a good list manager. I assume he is better than the last (that was before my time as a fan)
think that's to be determined still Jen.
Ok for him to be firm over deals - doesn't mean he is good necessarily.
If we can put together a team that has the capacity to win games, and can hold onto our young talent - then I'll give him the stamp of approval.

I've liked what he has done so far. Like last year. Has he had any experience otherwise?

Maybe this is just me but I would rather see us be aggressive and trade Crouch in if he is willing to come to us. Wins are important next year for us if we are to retain our young stars. We have the currency and picks to make it happen and it’s a risk worth taking imo. Massive upside especially with Ellis, Greenwood, Rowell and Anderson all coming in.

Think that’s why we’re playing hardball with Greenwood - will package the 2 together and essentially get greenwood for free

GRANT Birchall will spend Wednesday night working out where he believes he can win his fifth AFL premiership.

The champion Hawthorn defender is weighing up his next move, in whether to accept a deal at Waverley Park or move elsewhere, with interest from rivals including Brisbane and Gold Coast.

"He's very close (to making a call)," Casley, of TLA Australia, told AFL.com.au on Wednesday.

"We've spoken to three to four clubs and he'll spend tonight making a call and let me know tomorrow,"

"They've (Hawthorn) put a proposal to us, now it's up to Grant to make his mind up. They've guaranteed him a playing contract so that's waiting there."

He'll prob stay with the hawks.

I could see picks 15, 20 and PP pick next year currently 11 for B Crouch, H Greenwood and pick 28 being a possibility with Adelaide. 2 First Rounders and a beginning of second would be more than reasonable one would think..

Looking at the points that’s the equivalent of pick 2 (Crouch) and 53 (Greenwood) could also trade some later picks to bump up Greenwood value however he was 22th on B & F so value seems about right

Adelaide trading out pick 4 to GWS for 12, 18 and GWS 2020 first rounder

Interesting to see if that plays into anything

Could you imagine then the draft hand they would potentially have...

2019 - Picks 12, 15, 18 and 20
2020 - Picks 11, 15-18 range plus there first.

Would set them up in the future
