Sam Gray is another player who could add to our midfield for next to no cost in the Hugh Greenwood mold.

Could easily pick him up for a 3rd rounder and would probably play 22 games for us and only 27 years of age. Played 20 for Port this year.

I know some aren't particularly happy that we're chasing Zac Smith but here's an interesting anecdote from the vault:



Bizarre to think our current list manager was chasing Z.Smith's signature for Richmond 11 years ago. Maybe that's a motivating factor behind Cameron's decision to bring him back?

If he’s our 4th in line ruckman behind Wittsy,Day, 2MP and he comes cheap I have no problem.

We'll get him for nothing practically. Reality is we need someone with Nicholls now retiring. Witts cannot be expected to have the season he had in 2019 repeatedly. It's just not sustainable.

I would get Smith and then grab a young ruckman from the draft as well to learn under Witts and Smith.

Smith is the worst tall fwd target l've ever seen.

If Smith is being considered, why not see if either Pittonet or BBM fancies a change.
I thought it was really odd that McEvoy played at full-back for the last 3 games (inc against us in the game when Roughy kicked 6) and Ceglar was sole ruck.
Made no sense at the time, and still doesn't.
UNLESS - The Hawks were seeing if Ceglar could ruck the whole game single handed and kept BBM on-field just in case.
I'd doubt very much if McEvoy would be interested - he is very much a single ruck - as is Wittsy, but Pittonet has shown glimpses of form in the AFL, and hasbenn very good at VFL level.
Has to be better than Zac Smith surely.
3rd rounder (now or future) would get it done I reckon as they have Reeves as a project ruck (and Patton coming as well who can pinch-hit)

Smith isn't AFL standard at all i never rated him, i'm still in disbelief the Suns have offered him a contract

If the Crouch thing is looking unlikely as per Cameron’s comments then how about this

Tell Brad will will pick him up as a RFA next year ( this sells hope to King and Luko)

Offer up our 1st next year and pick 20 this year for an A grade mid and see what gets offered

We then get a very good player this year AND Crouch the following year without overpaying, thoughts and who would we pick up?

Kicked 40 goals + for the last 6(?) yrs, will play for peanuts anywhere to get a game, Adelaide want rid....
What am I not seeing?
Nobody has come in for him - so why are we not offering a 30yr old who has kicked 296 goals in 147 games (2.01 per game) a 1 yr plus easy triggers (including behavioural standards) for a 2nd year?
Seems a gift horse which we are very much looking in it's mouth.

Great interview! Thanks for sharing that.
Found it interesting to hear Noah say Matt has also played outside off a wing a bit this year as well and done really well. Not just purely inside, although that’s obviously where his strengths lie.
