No he wasn't
He was treated harshly by the AFL in the resources they gave us to set the Club up yes
But he was crap coach
He's never managed to hold down a coaching gig since
Essendon let him go after 12 months
I'm not going to trawl back through my 2012 posts, but when Ken Hinkley was announced as PA coach I posted we'd let the wrong guy walk

Having Pagan would have been brilliant and really set up the Giants/Suns rivalry

This is very true. Ever since I followed the Suns every off-season I think it's the year we make finals and it sure isn't going to change this year. We're making the finals!!!!

Look this is what I think of McKenna.

He was good with the fans and if Gary didnt get injured, he would have taken the Suns to finals. Under him though, only 1 player left (Caddy). Most players left with Rocket at the helm. Yes maybe getting an experienced coach to start up may have been the better idea but he was one that was involved in the club heavily and has been at the helm as we had our best seasons.

But don't you think this is the problem? We relied so much on Ablett.

In 2014 when Gaz got injured (I think that was the year?), our NEAFL team went completely winless for that season. Our development of guys was practically non-existent. Swallow and Bennell got through because they are just so absolutely elite, but we had no track record of developing guys. Compared to now when you look at someone like MacPherson come on.

You'll be hard pressed to find many Suns fans that have a soft spot for Bluey, though I will agree with ST that the AFL did him no favours whatsoever. Looking back on it there was no chance he could succeed. No senior people were with him to tell him what to do. Still, that doesn't absolve him of the blame of the toxicity that nearly brought the club down. Toxicity that we're still recovering from tbh
 
Congratulations on the King re-signing, guys. Hopefully Max joins him. Feel like you will have more to offer than St Kilda given all their potential signings this year.

What was the Scrimshaw situation, if you don't mind me asking? I always thought his move was a bit off with some of the stuff said in the media, but some of the comments in this thread particularly piqued my interest.

Hey guys, congrats on the King re-signing.

Hearing some talk that the AFL have agreed to some out of cap payments to help secure the signing of Bing and Luko (no idea how spell his name haha). Is there anything behind this or is it just a saints fans conspiracy to save face after we've been acting like he's already on our list for the last 12 months.

I thought that salary cap concessions would have made a lot more sense to help you guys out than more picks to be honest.
