With still being able to trade picks could Carlton swap 9 and future second for 15 like we offered then we delist Martin and they pick him up as delisted free agent
That's what I was thinking. With live trading still to come, it gives Carlton time to realise their error and effectively do the deal 2nd time around. Still doesn't stop Melbourne grabbing him though I would think but interesting discussions will be happening across the AFL over the next few weeks.

If he’s delisted though he can go anywhere he wants doesn’t have to be drafted

The machinations are too hard for me to follow although I am sure there will be a lot going on behind the scenes that we will never see, hopefully to the betterment of the Suns.
You’ve been listening to Damian Barrett too much

So who do we think will be the 5 or 6 players delisted now we have 4 top 20 picks and potentially the 2 academy players in Budarick and Rosas
Well I'll start the ball rolling!

We are losing Ah Chee / Nichols and probably Martin
Greenwood / Smith and Ellis naturally fill those outgoing spots.
** If Martin stays the problem of who is culled, gets even harder.

Current ones on the Senior List who would be sweating a little right now -
Crossley / GHS / Schoenfeld

Ones who could have a nervous trickle down their backside
Lemmens / Graham but assume they will hang on. Lemmens still has a few years on his contract hasn't he?

Rookies who should feel nervous
Wigg / Heron / Dawson

** I'm assuming Holman will be elevated on to Senior List if he hasn't been already, putting even more pressure on the three named above.

First time in a very long time we have some hard decisions to make but assuming there are still 3 or 4 to come onto the Senior List or Rookied, some will have to go.

...and for some interesting discussion, I think the following are safe this year but will need to have a very big season to be totally safe in 2020 from trade potential
Wright / Miller / Sexton

As hard as it might be for some fans, we have to replace some of the players from the past few years if we want to win more games and that means some old favourites might not be around too long into the future.

This is why a future 2nd and 3rd from Carlton is useless to us
Those picks are speculators to basically replace the same foot soldiers we'd be culling who in themselves in the most part were taken with speculators
We want to replace the Lemmens Grahams Herons and Dawsons with Rowells Rankine Andersons and Kings
As Cameron said.
We're only interested in a trade for Martin that improves or at the very least maintains list quality
Otherwise you can have him through the risk of the draft
They are the epitome of the magic bean picks

Totally agree. Those spots would have been virtually useless given the number of high end trades we have next year already. I still hope that Martin realises he was judged to be worth not much by Carlton and gives us one more year but in the end if he goes then so be it. I'd say Cameron is already looking at what fruit he can find in 2021 while Dew and co get on with the coming season. Good times hopefully.

It's a bit of a perfect storm for us
The concessions we won have enabled us to take this stand
I think the AFL would be well pleased with what went down yesterday
If you want to deal with us in future make sure you have something to offer

This non-trade with Carlton was worth it just for the LOL's. It made a lot of us very happy. Carlton fans reckon we're going to lose him for nothing. Well that's basically what they were offering = nothing! At least this way we got the LOL's & at this stage we still have Jack Martin.
Possibly...but they still have to get him;)
Still bewildered by 700k+ a year for a guy apparently only worth future picks 30 and 50 or thereabouts
Kind of what we tossed Geelong for Zac Smith

What will probably happen IMO.

You can trade picks up until the 22nd of November.

Suns and Carlton do a pick swap favoring the Suns, and then we delist Martin with the understanding he goes to Carlton.

If this was to happen it would have to be 15 for 9 and a swap of later picks.

Meets in the middle of what was being offered by both parties.

I'm sure Heron signed for 2020 a couple months ago

Graham resigned till 2022 this year and was drafted last year so he is most definitely safe.

Young, Schoenfeld, Crossley, Horlin-Smith, would not surprise me. Left field selections to be delisted and re-rookied would have to be Hanley or C Ellis even Murdoch

I'm all for clubs wanting to improve playing lists.
Unfortunately your recruiting dept has let an opportunity slip to do so. Looks like Martin will either go in the NAB, pre-season or rookie draft which = zero picks for your club.
I think they one and all need a rocket up you know where!

How many times do I need to tell these Carlton echo chamber inbreds that he wasn’t dropped he was returning after missing a game with a knock to the knee. They keep repeating this stuff.
Knock to the knee
Knock to the knee

Suns or BRM please move this twat on
As I remember it, Martin had an operation on a finger. When he returned from that, he played a shocker against the Pies at the MCG. It was his worst game ever & his only real shocker for the Suns. I saw him after the match with an ice bag on his knee. I also noticed the body language between him & other Suns' players & staff, which made me think they all knew he was planning to leave. Anyway, he was dropped after that Pies game. He played 1 match in the NEAFL & was best on ground. The club said they intended to put him straight back in the seniors, but he had the knock on his knee, so missed the rest of the season.

Agreed. He can nominate a price for the pre-season draft. We have 1st pick & if we had enough salary cap room to pay B Crouch, we should have enough to pay Martin. Melbourne have next pick, so they'll be very interested. Carlton have 3rd pick, but they'll have to be prepared to pay him more than the Suns or Melbourne would. If Carlton get him that way, they'll have to pay up big-time.

Listening to Craig Cameron this morning I’d have to say he finally grew a pair!! What Carlton offered was completely unders for Martin,25yo and coming into the prime of his career. We won’t lose him for nothing because the Blues offer didn’t improve our Draft selections that we already have a good hand in 2019/2020. Cameron also said Jack was desperate to go to Carlton. So,let him go...he clearly doesn’t want to be a Sun!🤘

Okay I have been triggered. Our recruiting department actually needs to be commended for their stance even if we get nothing from this. We have been shafted from pillar to post in years gone past (point in case Weller deal) and have grown some backbone and taken a stance.

If any recruiters need a rocket in there backsides it’s your guys for failing to get Martin and Papley done. Don’t flick shit over the fence when the real problems lie with your club.

Now jog on with the rest of your Carlton flog mates off our board.

Good day
