It’s possible we could luck out like the Lions but I doubt we’ll attract the caliber of players they have without some AFL assistance. Right place, right time for them. Roughy and Lewis are cooked, not at Hodge level, Zaharakis is soft, Blakely? Greenwood and Langdon would be good gets, but not Neale / McCarthy level.Agree to all that.....my point is/was that Brisbane at the time wasn't a "destination" club so to speak, but for various reasons, as you mentioned, those players chose to move there. I missed Christensen in that too but I think he was bit earlier.
So why is it beyond the realms of possibilities that we can't do similar....Weller is good mates with Langdon and Blakely I believe, Greenwood is testing the waters, Zaharakis may like a move. There's talk of approaching Roughy/Lewis in a playing/mentoring type of role with future employment in coaching and list management the carrots to help achieve that.
it was this quote by Briztoon that was the catalyst for my post......"I’m not sure you’ll attract many better than last years trade ins".
More so than attract them we need to keep them on the field. GHS isn’t best 22, neither is Murdoch and also both are injury prone. Hanley has been a bust. Miles and Hombsch are honest toilers. Weller, Witts have been amongst the few wins.
