This sort of strategy MUST be a part of our thinking. The Lachie Neale thing seemingly came out of nowhere, and if we keep doing things right, improving culture and standards, then why wouldn't pairing the Dunkley brothers be possible. It's not like the Bulldogs are setting the world on fire.Could Josh Dunkley be our version of Brisbane's Lachie Neale acquisition last year? I know Neale is higher rated (at the moment) but you'd have to think drafting his brother and the amount of money we could offer Josh would make us an enticing proposition. Our midfield would certainly improve a fair bit by recruiting the Dunkley boys! Not sure what we'd have to give up to get Josh though. Perhaps Brisbane's first round pick?
Either way, I think we'll end up drafting Kyle Dunkley tomorrow. Hopefully we use our second pick on a backup ruckman.
If you look at Brisbane, they collect a lot of first round draft pick and AFL compensation pick before going after Charlie cam and neale.I reckon Lachie Weller is pretty good!
We've obviously been limited financially in who we can chase - I suspect things will be different once the salary cap is cleared up a bit.

I think kreglze has it right. We can bank up to 5% getting May and Lyons off the book 1 year early will pay dividends..... hopefullyCan I clarify?
So if we only pay 90% of the cap this year can we spend 110% next year? Doesn’t seem right to me but all for it if true.
We’re crying out for a star to guide our young midfield so would be so good to get a Steven Coniglio, Ben Cunnington level player.
Any chance Jack Steven wants a change of scenery? Onfield assessment only be an excellent bridge until our young guys come into their own.

Yeah the family are from Gippsland and Swans agreed to that deal if a Vic club drafted him. With Boyd retiring that would free up plenty of cash for his new contract if money was the issue. Now that’s he been given a more prominent role in the middle I can’t see him going anywhere unfortunately.
IIRC didn’t he have a shady deal with Sydney where they would only match a bid on him if it was from an interstate club because he wanted to stay in Melbourne?
Maybe straight swap Jack martin without giving up draft pick.Yeah the family are from Gippsland and Swans agreed to that deal if a Vic club drafted him. With Boyd retiring that would free up plenty of cash for his new contract if money was the issue.
We can dream though I guess. Funnier things have happened.
True but all that could go out the window if the coach leaves and the dogs do another mini reset. Now that’s he been given a more prominent role in the middle I can’t see him going anywhere unfortunately.

Good size at 186cm / 79kgMitch Riordan....DOB 25/1/2000....187cm 83kg
STRENGTHS: Inside game, endurance, speed, strength, vertical jump
IMPROVEMENTS: Durability, accumulation
SUMMARY: Mitch Riordan would love to have 2018 again after his year – including his National Under 18 Championships campaign – was affected by injury. Returning to the Stingrays late in the year, Riordan joined Sam Fletcher as vital inclusions on the inside, and the team looked even stronger. He is one of those players that seems to have a lot of strengths but you do not always notice his output. He is always at the coalface winning the contested ball, and has the strength, speed and endurance to wear down his opponents. He also has a really strong vertical jump, allowing him to play forward if needed. His durability might be a concern, and he could also lift his ball-winning numbers, but in terms of his athleticism and inside ability, Riordan was another player who could be considered unlucky to miss out on a National Draft Combine invite.

Good vibe, endurance, Speed.And played with Fletcher.....maybe Berry/McCluggage MK2
How many players will we select tonight?
I assume less of a flight risk then Dunkley, but still a great pickWe r next and Dunkley is available
So we didn’t use the other pick. I don’t understand why. At least just to boost our NEAFL team.
I think they going to upgrade heron or Dawson maybe both before delisted them, their chance to shine if they wanted to stayed on rookie B list.So we didn’t use the other pick. I don’t understand why. At least just to boost our NEAFL team.
Yeah, maybe the same like his brother Josh. Just doesn't want to leave VIC.I assume less of a flight risk then Dunkley, but still a great pick
